Dramamine in the purple box (non-drowsy) is the original Antivert. Good for relief until you can get to doc if it is a more serious issue. I occasionally get vertigo, I don't like it, I carry a tube of the antivert dramamine with me all the time.

There is great Video on YouTube from a dr who made a excercise that works really well. I get it every couple of years randomly and it fixes it almost immediately every time. Vertigo really sucks. Here's the video for anyone who might need it

Yes, the Epley Maneuver or the Semont Maneuver can be done at home. Otherwise any good PT or ENT can help.

There is a PT at St. Joseph named Lindsey Roberson who specializes in vestibular therapy. She is awesome! https://www.chistjoseph.org/services/rehabiitation/dizzy-and-balance-program

First, Im sorry you're dealing with this. It sucks! Ive been dealing with a nightmare of vestibular problems for the last 10 months. The good thing about pure vertigo is it is very likely fixable. Kuppersmith told me they dont treat dizziness and told me to go back to my primary care. He was of little help for my case. Here is what I would do if I were you-

1. make an appointment with your primary care asap. Ask them for a referral to Lindsey Roberson as suggested above. Ive seen a number of vestibular PTs and she is as good or better than anyone you can find in Houston. You will have to have a referral for any PT. Any doctor can write it for you though.

2. Make an appointment with Dr Brammeier or Dr Hill at S&W in Temple. They focus on vestibular problems. Do this NOW because it will take weeks to months to get in to them. If the Epley maneuver doesn't help you, you will likely need additional testing and they will be able to do that. Unfortunately their PT guys missed my problems that were later found by Lindsey Roberson above.

Other good resources- Dr Patki at UTHealth in Houston. He was able to finally correctly diagnose me within seconds when a slew of other neurologist and ENTs failed. Again, some of these doctors can take a long time to get in to so don't be afraid to make an appointment and you can cancel later if you don't need it.

TIRR Memorial in the woodlands has good vestibular therapist also.

Good luck and feel free to email me at toledo321 at aol.com if you have any questions, need neurologist suggestions, etc.

Good luck!

I have been suffering from vestibular neuritis since March 21. I was constantly dizzy that kept me homebound for 8 weeks. Finally had some testing done and it shows I have 54% weakness on my right side vestibular nerve.

I see a vestibular physical therapist that really helps. My ENT, PCP, and neurologist are clueless. I'm on a ton of meds now for vestibular migraines also. It really, really sucks. I hope the epley maneuver helps you. It didn't help me at all because I don't have BPPV.

Sunflower, sorry you are experiencing vertigo. I imagine it is very uncomfortable and disruptive. I do not know if you are familiar with Scott and White but there are two ENT's that practice at the clinic next to the hospital. Dr. Simon and Dr. Miller. I know they treat vertigo and might be able to help you. At least they could recommend what to do or refer you to a vertigo specialist. Just a thought.

Dr Simon and Dr Miller will refer you to their specialists, Dr Brammeier and Dr Hill in Temple. They might be able to help you with Vertigo but I would go ahead and schedule with Temple so you aren't waiting to get on their list.
