Heading back this weekend with my daughter, wife and a couple of other parents to attend Aggieland Satuday. We need some good suggestions on a place for dinner. Open to anywhere. Just wanted to know what are the current top spots for a good meal.
Thanks!

I really hate when the Aggieland board becomes the general board

What do you like to eat ?? What is your price point ??

And this is the problem with College Station, someone asks where to go and a chain is one of the first recommendations. Would it kill you to throw out an idea that is unique to here? The chicken? Chicken oil? Papa Perez? The Republic? Christophers, sharaz veritas, Antonio's, martins, For Gods sake at At least Pepe's is local and different.

Wings n more and Koppe Bridge always come through. If you want something nice - Chris' or The Republic.

Solid list. But you chose not to participate in the local chicken wars!

I didn't want the thread devolving into a war. The taco list was a fair compromise.

Add Poppy's for the "something different". I had wild boar there and my wife had skate!

Great list though. I would add Cafe Eccel on there somewhere also.

It was back in 1994 when Mike Layne opened the doors of the original location in College Station. Sure it's a chain now with several locations but it's local!

Am I the only one that thinks Grub Burger sucks? I like gourmet style burgers, but haven't particularly enjoyed anything from there. I'd like to try Hopdoddy's but haven't made it over there yet.

Grub is fine IMO
Hopdoddy got crossed off the list when I went in there with my 12yo son. I had a burger and a beer. He had a burger, fries and coke. $35. Too many other good places in town for that again.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I remember Los Nortenos from back in my time in Aggieland. Unfortuntely, it looks like they are closed for good!

Los Nortenos

Plenty of other great choices however.

I agree. I'm a fan of simple burgers; if you can't get a flavorful meat and simple bun and cheese that works, then that's a failure. At Grub, I typically had the plain beef burger with simple cheese, and it was so bland from a meat perspective to me that I just couldn't do it anymore. Try a bit of salt and pepper or something on it...

I'll eat there if someone else wants to but that's it.

Hopdoddy isn't worth it either.

You know what, we recently went there with some friends for dinner and a Quiplash (online multiplayer game) tournament and it was a blast. The food is good, the atmosphere is fun and we left thinking "why don't we go there more often?!" Definitely a great local spot.

Would be better suited to move back to CS area and create a few more dishes. The gumbo is top notch and rivals many of the places in NOLA including the Gumbo Shop IMO

Nope - we like it in Bryan just fine. And gumbo shop is far from the best in NOLA.

Love Gumbo Shop for many of its menu items and the atmosphere is perfect French quarter for a night out, but the gumbo at Coop's Place is the best I've ever had.
