Can anyone identify with our situation? 80 and 82 years old, have bundled phone, internet and SL200 tv. No box allowing recording,no movie channels, no extra sports stuff. We do have 3 of the little boxes so old extra tvs can get HD. (At least I think that's why they said we had to have them.) We had been paying $160.+, which seemed a lot, but this last bill went up to $193+. Explanation was "just a rate increase." After complaining, they "generously" reduced it to $187+. Seems quite a lot for retirees who only watch the Game Show Channel and a few things on major networks... CBS, NBC, FOX News, PBS, and a couple that carry football games sometimes. Suggestions?!? Is this a normal rate for such?

I'm paying $118 for basic cable and their lowest internet plan. Just one cable box. I actually cancelled the cable earlier today cause football is over.

Just their slowest internet will be $65+fees, which seems pretty high to me but whatcha gonna do?

Do you need to watch tv on all the other TVs?

Those 3 boxes are a big expense of that I imagine.

If you hardly watch TV, then get rid of those other TVs/boxes.

Sadly that's just where the market is for cable television. I believe I pay right under $100 for Internet from Suddenlink and right at $100 for Dish for 2 TVs. If I didn't like switching channels every 5 minutes, I would have cut the cord years ago.

Funny I came across this as I had my wife actually call Today and try to cancel our cable subscription but keep our internet. She was told if we canceled cable our bill wouldn't change much because our 200 unlimited plan went up and oh their isn't unlimited 200 anymore just 400. So it would have been $113 or more just for that. So she kept the cable since the price difference really wasn't that much difference now. It was $143 and they dropped it $7 lol. So now we pay around 136 for internet 400 and HD cable (no DVR). All that to say I'm not sure I wouldn't have done the same thing. It's ridiculous that to JUST keep an unlimited internet option it would have cost $113.

That doesn't sound right. I pay $76/mo. for unlimited 400.

We cancelled their cable a few moths ago. We planned on cancelling their internet as well. They called us the day before it was to be turned off and offered us ~$35 a month for their lowest internet package. We pay around $38 after taxes and fees for internet only.

Same here, though last month it went up for a "Network Enhancement Fee" by 2.50, and since that point has been the least reliable I've ever had it. One cable modem issue where it was training onto a channel that was crap; reset from their end and been alright until last night, where I had about a two hour outage.

Differences in costs could likely be determined if you recently signed up.
All the TV providers offer a "low" starting rate for the first 12 or 24 months, and then it gets jacked up after all that.

I have been a Suddenlink (Cox, etc.) customer for about 10 years for cable and 15 - 20 years for internet. We finally cut the cord around 2 months ago.

Once per year, I call Suddenlink up and get them to lower the rate the $10 or $15 it would go up without the "introductory" offer. Typically threaten to reduce down to the lowest package and activate satellite again and it works.

This. It's an annual ritual for me. If they won't budge on lowering your bill, just try again later and you may have better luck with a different rep.

I've been a customer of Suddenlink Internet for at least 10 years at my current house, and several years at various rentals before then. Last time I didn't have Suddenlink was when I worked for a network services company and had a direct line-of-sight with my distribution point. Aironet AP3000 and a few Yagis and I had Internet at home that wasn't dial-up!

My bill is about to be jacked up $20 per month staring this month - from the first 12 month (lower) rate.

I was told that I would have to cancel for 30 days, and then I would be a new customer. THEN I could qualify for the new rates again.

In fact, they just called me 10 minutes ago, trying to get me to add a tv package., But, they claim they cannot do anything about the $20 per month increase I am about to get on the internet cost.

I would rather not cancel for 30 days, though - because then my Arlo cameras won't operate

Same 200 package, but mine just went up to $93.30. And I've long since moved on from any promo periods.

Doesn't seem to be much logic with their pricing.

I hate that they have such a monopoly in BCS. They can increase a few dollars here and there every few months without caring about competition, because there is none.

There new customer rates are managed by the name on the account. If you are living with someone you can have a "new" account set up in the others name to get the introductory rate. Last two times I have just asked for the rate and gotten it. I am in the Victoria market though.

received my bill went up 30.00 or 18% I called and the employee hung up on me after I started to ask why it went up I assume they are receiving so many calls and getting chewed out they cant take it anymore. This company is simply unbelievable What does a person do???????????????

As a follow up tp my previous post so I go to the local suddenlink office and they will not discuss anything about your bill and how to lower it They give you a secret number for you to call WHY HAVE AN OFFICE IF THEY CANNOT TALK TO YOU ABOUT YOUR BILL I called the secret number and got it lowered 35 bucks

As I mentioned in the second post in this thread, I called and cancelled cable about 3 weeks ago. Today I get a bill for $296.40!!!! WTF

So apparently my last auto draft didn't go through (although nothing with my bank changed), so I still owe $118 for last month, then they're charging me $134 for next month (not only did they not take cable off, now there charging me more for it), plus $128 for TWO "Credit Card or E-check Denial" charges on the same day. (Minus a little bit for a partial payment somehow).

My first thought was that I accidentally opened the wrong person's mail.
