A friend asked me to share this from a local Facebook page:
As many of you know, tomorrow is a big day for our community as President Bush is laid to rest. I know many people will be lining the procession route but please take a few precautions for your pups before you head out.
The normal game day flyover consists of just a few planes and the noise is tremendous. Tomorrow there will be an unprecedented 21 naval fighter jets flying over to give President Bush the send off he so deserves. For your pups that means a ton of noise that will be heard and felt all over BCS.
Here are some tips to make the event less stressful and safer for your pet:
*Treat this event the same way you'd treat a fireworks display.
*Bring them inside before the procession starts at 3:45 and close off doggy doors. Frightened dogs run and pay no attention to their surroundings including moving vehicles.
*If your pet needs to be medicated for fireworks, medicate them tomorrow afternoon. That will help reduce some of the anxiety.
*If you will not be home during the flyover leave a radio or tv on to help block some of the noise
*Give your dog a good chew or stuffed Kong to keep them distracted.
*Kennel them if you won't be home to prevent any destruction if they do get worked up.
Feel free to share these tips with any friends that have animals!
