Since campus is officially closed, you can park in any lot. My first choice would be the roof of the West Campus parking garage, or the roof of the new garage by the MSC. But, it would not surprise me if those positions are closed for security reasons.
You will not be able to get to West Campus Garage or Cain garage. You will essentially not be able to get pretty much anywhere on West campus, or it will have to be North West Campus.

George Bush is closed between Wellborn and 2818, and Wellborn is closed between GB and University.

Here are the pics I was able to snag. We setup at the Vet School close to Research Park. Since the approach came from the South, it ended up looping right over the top of us. Very neat sight to see.

From the Olsen parking lot. Couldn't get my tripod vertical axis loosened up enough to get it when it came from out behind the tree, but still turned out pretty good.

Are all 30 F-18's at eaterwood? The airport they were landing at did not look like easterwood in a few of the videos I saw earlier

That's what I figured, for that many jets it was either going to be ft worth or San Antonio due to security

Will the family travel back to Houston by train? Haven't seen anything reported about a return.

Do we know what direction the 4:15 flyover today (fighters) will approach from?

My understanding is by that time the family will be at the gravesite and the flyover will be over the private ceremony at the library. Could be wrong.

The flyover will be from the south over the library

If they are out this morning, I will watch for a path. If it was like earlier this week, the two jets I saw approached from the southeast. Regardless, if you are near campus you would have a good opportunity to see them.

1. Once off the train, are they having a ceremony by the train or are they immediately in vehicles and going to private ceremony at burial site?

2. Is flyover going to be when they get off train or during private ceremony at burial site?

3. Once in vehicles at train site, what is the route to the library/burial site they are taking?

4 (formerly 3-2). Are any of the "viewing areas" going to be able to see procession of vehicles to the burial site?

WTAW said this morning flyover is from south to north, but dependent on cloud cover as could be raining this afternoon.

They are having a ceremony by the train. This is not open to the public.

Do not know the answer to #2

#3 - I do not think this is public knowledge. No one is allowed on West Campus, unless specifically invited and only allowed in certain locations.

#3 (2) - No.

.

My understanding from a couple law enforcement buddies and this board is that the procession will leave the unloading area and travel to George Bush Drive along Olsen, making a right on GB Drive at Bluebell/ Olsen field. So you'd be able to see the procession from the viewing area that is along the south side of GB Drive, but I think it's only open from the tracks to Penberthy, and I don't know if you can cross the tracks at Wellborn once everything gets shut down.

An FBI agent told us yesterday morning that he though access across the tracks would be closed. But according the a DPS friend, he said last night the secret service has the final say/ plans, and it wasn't clear to him at this point. His team is set up along GB from Olsen to the Library entrance, but he wasn't sure of the closings/ details yet.

From what I can gather:

1) They'll have the ceremony where the honor guard loads the coffin into a hearse as always. Prob televised but that will be n the other side of the train from the viewing areas, which are all on the east side of Wellborn Rd.

2) At the burial site (over the library)

3) I bet they will go down John Kimbrough, left on Olsen, right on George Bush, and up the main drag of the library. (The Corps will be lining the last part of that route. Should be some cool video that comes out of that.)

4) Officially, no. But your best bet is to be on the south side of George Bush between Wellborn Rd. and Penberthy if you want to see the procession. You will be standing behind perimeter fencing I think. And you better get there EARLY.

Thursday's Arrival in College Station

The Union Pacific train carrying President Bush from Houston to College Station is scheduled to arrive on Thursday at about 3:45 p.m.

An arrival ceremony for family and invited guests only will take place on the west side of the railroad tracks, across from the Texas A&M Hotel & Conference Center.

The procession from the train to the Bush Library and Museum grounds will not be open to the public.

The graveside will be open to the public beginning Saturday, Dec. 8.

Where To Watch In College Station

There are three locations where viewing will be safe and ideal, and the College Station Police Department recommends you arrive at one of these locations as far ahead of the train's estimated 3:45 p.m. arrival as possible:

Spectators are urged to stand on the east side of Wellborn Road (behind perimeter fencing) either in front of the Kyle Field parking lot (Lot 62) or between that location and George Bush Drive.

The third viewing location is along the south side (behind perimeter fencing) of George Bush Drive, between Wellborn Road and Penberthy Boulevard.

Those electing to view the train arrival outside these designated, safe locations are instructed to do so only from the east side of Wellborn Road. Do not attempt to cross to the west side of Wellborn Road.

\The train will pass between 3:30 p.m. and 3:40 p.m.

What path was that?
The radar tracker somebody posted earlier in the afternoon seemed to show the plane traveling in a direct line from DC toward College Station. I incorrectly expected it to pass from east to west over campus before turning back southwest toward Houston.

Since I've been wrong so much lately, I'm guessing my assumption that today's F/A-18 Hornet flyover will follow the same path as Tuesday's practices (west-northwesterly from Towerpoint area to the library) is also wrong. Others are reporting south to north, which will take my location out from under the path.

Notam has been out awhile says no op within 3nm of easterwood and is considered national defense airspace and they will use deadly force if the consider it a threat. But real aiplanes over 5000 ft and scheduled arrivals at easterwood are exempt
