I think local businesses should step up and volunteer to help the bryan library repair this dollhouse... the wiring, painting, and wall paper shouldt be that hard...

if it had anything to do with photography, or woodworking, i'd do it if i could...

Well, it could sort of have to do with woodworking, but only if you can work on tiny stuff or if you want to help them with the table.

I don't know what the exact plans are, but part of what they are looking for is some type of table to display it on. It used to be on a table and had a little fence around it. I think they are looking for something safer than the previous metal fence but not sure what.

I just reread the article. It says they want a glass case. I suppose part of the case might be wood, but it sounds like mostly glass. I wonder if it will have a locking door that can open so it can still periodically be decorated for holidays.

Best wishes to Quest 4 Quarters on their fundraising goals to restore the dollhouse and get it back on display. It would fit in well with the renovations and growth in downtown Bryan and the Clara Mounce library.

Does anyone know what the historical meaning of the dollhouse is? All we get from the KBTX story is that a lot of people wrote it down in their memories, and that's pretty neat. But what about the house? Was it modeled on a Bryan home, was it the dollhouse of the children of a leading family, a gift from a dignitary, or some other context?

A little more information from this 2013 photo -

...and the obituary of the doll house donor, Glada Crocker, who died earlier this year at the age of 109 and attributed her longevity to "...chocolate and curiosity."

According to https://www.pinterest.com/pin/13933080082927258/, it is based on a house in Idaho.

I remember reading somewhere that the original house no longer exists.

I don't know if it had any significance or if it was just a pretty house they saw.
