Howdy! We have a young lady from Germany that is staying with our family now and into next year and we're hoping to help her feel at home by finding other Germans in the area.

We've found the Texas A&M German Club online and will be reaching out to them, even though she will not be enrolled at Texas A&M.

Does anyone have some additional suggestions on how we could help her meet others in BCS from Germany?

It may be outside your desired travel but Fayette County Texas has a lot of German heritage in the area and occasional events. Please check out their Chamber web site to see what is going on.

Dependent upon her age, you might reach out to the German clubs at some of the local high schools. 2nd on the Fayette County stuff.

I took German conversation class from Tanja Peterson through the College Station Xtra Learning program. Real nice lady. You might try to get ahold of her.

I would also recommend high school German clubs. However, if she is an exchange student that is highly frowned upon because they are here to immerse themselves into American culture and way of life. (This is also Why they aren't allowed to live in a home that speaks their native language)

There is a German restaurant in downtown Bryan.

Let student watch political debates and introduce to mexican food, perhaps casa rod or casa ole
