I'm sure they were thinking "It's easier to ask forgiveness than permission."

I think that, to be very honest with you, I do believe that we should have rightly believed, but we certainly believe that certain issues are just settled.

Nothing.

But, play by the rules that everyone else has to play by.

Why is that so difficult to understand?

Dunno. It doesn't sound permanent.

Makes fun of College Station's ordinances on a thread about a business thumbing it's nose at the city.

Issued 5 tickets so far.

They have been granted an itenerant vendor's permit so they can continue to sell in their parking lot, but the city said they cannot sell things for which that area is not zoned for. The city says they'll be monitoring that, too.
So it looks like the dude just showed up in Bryan one day and painted a bunch of trademarked pictures on a building and then started selling stuff. Didn't check the zoning laws, didn't get permits, didn't ask for permission to paint the murals, just went about opening his business in the most slapdick manner possible.

Good. Keep racking up the tickets. Pretty soon they'll realize that selling bongs out of a tent isn't going to keep the fines paid.

I thought an itenerant permit meant they had to be a mobile seller.
So, evidently an itinerant permit is good for 21 days and the vendor can't sell for more than 3 days in row. Planet K wants to sell all week. Bryan fined them on the 4th day. Held another press conference and said they would not pay the fine.

Is Planet K named after the first letter of the owner's last name (Kleinman)? I guess that gives me some more insight on this guy's attitude.

What Planet K seems to be doing is executing a brilliant marketing campaign since they did a very similar thing in Dripping Springs. They will eventually get all their permits and other approvals in place and everyone will know about them for the cost of x number of citations. My guess is their client base doesn't mind them giving a big middle finger to the city, so they will be sure to visit and buy stuff.

I think blatantly disregarding the rules and racking up citations that he's said on the news that he's not going to pay ought to disqualify him from actually getting a permit. It'd be nice if there'd be an arrest in there too.

Being from Austin, I remember driving by his stores in 2016 and seeing his Bernie signs. It's extremely ironic that a socialist went on the local news station to talk about how our capitalist society should determine whether Planet K stays or goes, not the government. I also find it ironic that a socialist is suddenly now not a fan of government overreach and regulation.

I'd say his BETO and Bernie stuff is fairly consistent.

Most Dem-Socialists I know think *we're* the ones too stupid to run things on our own. They think we should be regulated and overseen, while they should be exempt due to their higher morals, superior intellect and the value and emotional impact of their intentions.....

And what insight would that be? Are you related to someone named Kleinman?

It's not the name itself, it's that he conjured up a planet based on his name (if that's where the store name came from). I did not mean to imply anything other than that earlier.

He said on camera that he wouldn't pay any of them. Then what? More citations? Arrest warrants? Permits revoked?

Side note: His shirt in the news article advocates less government, but his political signs are just the opposite, so I am really confused.

Also, with all this rain, the humidity is high. I am afraid his wares have absorbed much of this rainy weather since they are outside.

Why 400 Beto signs needed? I never smoked pot but would being stoned make you only be able to read the 399th sign in a line?

My vote is for the idiot to leave town. If he can't play nice time to suspend him. Like what is on the sign or not it just looks trashy. Then add to it his art work sucks I vote no. His store on Lamar in Austin used to have some cool looking art. This location looks like an elementary art project gone wrong.

Negotiations with the city don't appear to be going well. It's been just short of two months, and Planet K is still selling from the parking lot.

The Eagle article linked in a post above states (and has the photo),
Quote:

An image of Reveille, the university's mascot, remains, but her blanket with the A&M logo has been painted over with the words "come and take it."
