I like the catfish at Cotton Patch and I've heard that the fish is good at Razoo's, but I haven't tried it personally.

I was underwhelmed by Vernon's. As much as I want to find fault in chains, Cotton Patch is very good. And, yes, catfish are garbage. But if you can get the fat deposits off them, they aren't bad. Crappie and bass are better but years of marketing have convinced people that catfish is where it's at.

most catfish served in restaraunts are raised on farms and fed special diets. Then placed in smaller areas and purged. Much like crawfish.

I suspect some restaurants may serve Asian catfish as opposed to farm raised American catfish.

90% or more of the "catfish" served in restaurants is either swai or basa.

Actually its a bottom dwelling scavenger. Sucker fish eat algae, but don't taste as good.
Walk softly and carry a big stick! Make sure the big stick makes big boom noises and flashy bright lights.

Went their on Saturday. I can't remember the last time that I was welcomed to my table with a plate of hush puppies. Very good food!

jac4 you must be a Yankee or have Yankee parents that raised you. Catfish is a Southern dish that is favored by many. On a side note Koppe Bridge passes off their Swai as Catfish.

Go find the nearest (relatively clean) body of water that has flathead/yellow catfish, and catch one. Cube, roll in cornmeal, fry in peanut oil. You'll never eat farm-raised/imported restaurant catfish again.
