Howdy Ags!
If it's basketball season, there must be a traffic plan?! Not as complicated as football but still designed to get you quickly into and out of the game. And if you're not going to the games, take a second to read and know when/where to avoid being caught in traffic.

A few suggestions:
1) Download the Destination Aggieland app. It has info, and you can buy parking ahead of time if you need it. We also do push notifications with traffic and parking updates.
2) Avoid the Bush/Wellborn intersection. There is an improvement project under design, but it's not going to make the traffic better this year.
3) Remember that Olsen Blvd. is closed next to the West Campus Garage to help pedestrian and vehicle flows.
4) Pregame FM 2818 is usually uncongested. From FM 2818, use Bush to Penberthy, or Stotzer to Discovery. Try to come into campus close to where you want to park don't try to go past Reed Arena in any direction.
5) Postgame Move away from the Reed Arena area before you try to go toward your destination.
  • Both lanes of Penberthy will move away from the arena - the split happens at Loading Dock Road. if you turn right, both lanes are northbound
  • if you turn left, both lanes are southbound
  • Penberthy Blvd. cannot be used as a campus through street.
  • If you use John Kimbrough Blvd. to Wellborn Rd., turn left.
  • If using Penberthy Blvd. to George Bush Dr., turn right or go straight; left turns onto George Bush Dr. are not permitted.
6) Questions, comments, suggestions?

It would be nice if A&M parking permit holders didn't have to pay to park around Reed. Transportation Services sure likes to double-dip when they can.

You can park at Olsen or the tennis courts if you have a permit.

Getting to handicap parking has become a total pain this year. Coming from Traditions, what route do you suggest?

Easiest route is probably FM 2818 to Bush to Olsen Blvd. As we did for most of the conference games last year, we're closing the Olsen Blvd section near the West Campus Garage to help the large pedestrian volume.

Parking map can be found in Destination Aggieland app or Transportation Services website: http://transportmap.tamu.edu/parkingmap/tsmap.htm?map=bskb

The lots across the street from Reed Arena are available to customers with A&M permits without paying $5.00. They are shown on the map at: http://transportmap.tamu.edu/parkingmap/tsmap.htm?map=bskb .
If you are familiar with the parking lot numbers, they are 61, 74 and 97 to the north, 95 to the west, 100d to the southwest and 100j to the southeast.

This is where we park for the Women's Basketball games. The only problem is trying to cross through the intersection after the game. I'm really surprised a pedestrian hasn't been hit or a wreck hasn't happened. It would be nice if there was some traffic control in that area.

Appreciate the response. I'm fully aware of those lots. I still don't agree with the policy.

Not sure which of these lots you're referring to, but the parking around Reed Arena is free on days when there is only a women's game. And away from Reed, there are several intersections with stop signs that you can use to get to other parking areas.
