Does anyone know why this has sat vacant for 5 years? Seems like a great location. Does it require too much construction for a repurpose? Asbestos maybe the problem?

You would think they would have lowered it then after 5 years of property taxes.
Rumor mill (not sure how credible) - it will be a bar (including the rooftop - configuration similar to The Corner).

Yup, I didn't realize how gross NG was until I graduated and moved away.
Its become a little less gross with better places like West End and Rough Draft. But yeah, the aura of grotty sleaze still hangs heavy.

West end keeps their trash on the sidewalk in front of their bar. It's actually kind of filthy.

Rent for the South College location was being paid. As for the University location. That belongs to HEB.
North gate is a dump. Embarrassing for the town and the university that one of it's major drawing cards looks like a slum. Many are being pulled to new,trendy locations.
They should just level the whole area and start over. Compare that to many of the trendy,cool SEC bar areas. No comparison.

Northgate is a dump. Has been for years. They should just level the whole thing and start over. Embarrassing for the city and university that one of the drawing cards of the area is in such deteriorated shape. People are moving to the cool, trendy placess opening. Compare Northgate to the neat bar areas and scene in many SEC towns. Northgate is dead last.

Point taken but the sales numbers suggest otherwise. Alcohol sales in Northgate eclipse anything else in the county.

Yeah, NG is real worried about the new trendy bars.
It was supposed to be a sushi bar, I've bid it three times in the last 2 years
