How do I stay in BCS for a game and not spend $600 for 2 nights?

I graduated in '03 and went back often for several years. Then I got married, had kids and have only passed through for lunch on my way to Houston since. Last game I saw at Kyle featured Tannehill at QB.

Finally we've lined up babysitters and have 2 couples wanting to come down for MState. I hear there are all these new hotels and AirBnb but its still minimum of $300/night it seems with 2 night minimum. We can get a Super 8 or some POS for 200/nt but I just can't imagine spending that when I can stay at a 4 star hotel in a major downtown for that. Is that really what the market is or is there a way to negotiate with anyone who has vacant rooms? Maybe I'm just cheap. Tickets to the game aren't as high as I'd expected which is a plus.

If you are wanting to be under $200 a night in BCS on a game weekend, I think your options are EconoLodge and EZ Travel (if it's still in business).

Check Navasota or Caldwell.

try vrbo listing 955040. It is over $400 a night, but it is a cabin in the country and split between three couples isn't a bad price

There is a newer hotel in Hearne you can try as well.

One thing I don't think a lot of people realize is that is you give up your house for the weekend that the owenera have to find someplace to go. I know a few people who pick and choose a couple of games each year that they rent their house they go on mini vacation but they just break even after their two nights of hotel somewhere else and gas food and whatever activities they do but it is worth it to them

You can always commute the day of the game unless you live really far away

This is true, hadn't really considered that angle. The last times I visited regularly, couch surfing was still a viable option.

You could try camping in tents at Lake Bryan or Somerville. Eat in town, sleep in the tents and grab breakfast on the way home!

Hotwire and Priceline often have decent deals with hotels in the area. Both have apps that are easy to use.

Split a place on VRBO. Even at $600/night, it will come out to $200/couple.

Split a place on VRBO that is NOT in College Station because unless you are a Bed and Breakfast, you are breaking the law and could and should be fined.

Bryan and other communities allow it, College Station does not.

Try the Relax Inn on Hwy 21 for $85 a night.

Should be safe and secure, BPD does regular patrols.

Prolly the homeowner's problem, not the renter's.

Plus, VRBO and AirBNB work on one credit card payment.

So I think the OP will be okay.

Can you send your email? You can text it to 979-218-2336. I have many VRBO clients and several are less than $300 night. It just depends what weekend you're looking at . I clean for them.

First, book the two nights as Sat/Sun. Sunday is always significantly less than Friday. Second, ask politely on Sunday morning and they will almost always check you out only charging for the one night you used.

Have you actually called and checked some hotels in CS? My understanding is most are not requiring two night stays and the rates are much lower than last year due to the glut of rooms.

I was able to book a room online(Expedia) for my dad for just one night for South Carolina. I'm not sure how but when I called the same hotel they said two night minimum. You might should just try it.

I recently found out I'll be out of town that weekend due to work. So my place is available, and it's just a 1-night minimum. Right now I have it listed for $450 for the night (sleeps 8), and I'm willing to negotiate down if there are only 4 of you. Thing is, if nobody books by Saturday then I'm pulling it down because I won't have enough time to get it cleaned properly for guests.

Feel free to message me through AirBNB if you want more info.

Huh? Is that really a law? How can there be a law for renting out your own property?

This has been on the books for a while. The claim is that you're running an illegal business out of your home - a hotel or Bed and Breakfast, depending on whether or not you stay while the renters are present. IIRC, it was possible to do it legally if you pay the hotel tax and subject your home to some kind of inspection plus a fairly extensive amount of paperwork.

There's also the question of whether it violates a HOA in addition to city ordinances.

My recollection is that enforcement went up due to a combination of the hotel lobbyists and complaints from neighbors.

My wife and I have a house we rent through VRBO. We call it Winks Way. We have always loved travel and have wanted to offer travelers a nice safe and peaceful place to relax. It is available all year for Game day and special events and occasions. It is well under other rates and we can work with special needs or considerations. Perfect for party of 2 but can sleep 11 in beds and 14 with couches. Please review and text me if you have questions. We are honored to have opportunity to earn your business.

Winks way
