My insurance is changing from United to Blue Cross/Blue Shield - my regular doctor will not take BC/BS.
Any suggestions for a general practitioner?
Dr Julie Lim is a St Joseph doctor, yet she claims she is not on the list. And, I checked the insurance website - she is not listed. That is my current doctor.dubi said:

HMO - the state insurance. They are switching from United to BCBS. But still an HMOgettingitdone said:
Is your insurance BCBS HMO or PPO? Not many local providers take BCBS HMO (not a single provider at Scott and White).
I am BCBS PPO.MisterShipWreck said:Dr Julie Lim is a St Joseph doctor, yet she claims she is not on the list. And, I checked the insurance website - she is not listed. That is my current doctor.dubi said:

Can you post a link to the list? Many of us old timers would be willing to look thru the names.MisterShipWreck said:
At 1 time, BCBS HMO was great - but now it seems it is hard to find a doctor.
There is a list on the BCBS website - I was just looking for suggestions. It's just a list. I don't know the names. I'll look into the few suggestions made so far
Click on the green button that says "SEARCH" at this link: https://www.bcbstx.com/hs/getting-care/healthselect-network.htmldubi said:Can you post a link to the list? Many of us old timers would be willing to look thru the names.MisterShipWreck said:

This list contains all the S&W doctors; you have lots of choices.MisterShipWreck said:Click on the green button that says "SEARCH" at this link: https://www.bcbstx.com/hs/getting-care/healthselect-network.htmldubi said:Can you post a link to the list? I pressed the 1st of the 4 green "search" buttons.
I've only been in town for a few years but don't recognize these. From quick googling:MisterShipWreck said:
Damn - even University Pediatrics doesn't take the BCBS HMO - Only 8 pediatricians.
Anyone know anything about one of these guys for my son?

Bharat N Nandgaonkar, MD

Zenaida Alidon, MD

Soi Yu Chan, MD

Mazen A Almidani, MD

Did you read above the he has BCBS HMO? You probably have the PPO which gives more choices.texasaggie2015 said:
Interesting. I have BC/BS and have seen a couple S&W doctors recently. They both took my insurance.

I see David Buras at the Physicians Center...takes BCBS, and I never have problems getting an appointment right away. Others speak highly of the other doctors there. Stop by and chat with staff and see what you think.

Dr Kane is in Temple
Dr Finnigan is a pedi cardiologist in Austin
Dr Alidon is in Temple and Neonatal subspecialists.
I didn't check the rest but it looks like that HMO is mostly Temple Austin region- ouch.
I think Finnigan comes once a week or month or so from Austin to see kiddo hearts here. I know one of that group does it used to be Dr Patt. I was near Austin before coming here so I know most of those Austin docs. I think that BCBS HMO is just not paying docs at all, like medicaid/medicare rates, but I don't participate in contract negotiations so that is second hand information.MisterShipWreck said:KidDoc said:I've only been in town for a few years but don't recognize these. No, I did not put the addreses, but these were local. Finnigan was at 2605 Osler. Most of the others were all in 1 clinic at 1700 E University Dr.
I will have to see if BCBS will let me pick an internist as my primary doctor, or if it has to be a "family physician"FlyRod said:
