Toosday vs. Toozdee
Fryday vs. Frydee
These are not grammar. These are pronunciation/dialect. Southern pronunciations are what they are because of the dialects of the people who settled the region, not because they are lazy, stupid, or uneducated.

Dialects are forms of grammar.

Everyone on this thread, so far, has been communicating using "English".

If two people are speaking and one uses "Toosday" and the other uses "Toozdee", they are both speaking English...just using different dialects.

Neither needs "English lessons" since they both speak and understand the language.

The point of my post had nothing to do with the correct pronunciation of words.

I just found it funny that a person was lecturing people by telling them to take "English lessons".

Just making the point that the street in Houston is pronounced different than the town it was named for..........locally and for as long as anyone can remember. Guess that means your a Houstonian.

You must be young, or not an original Houstonian. Because EVERYONE knows it's Fill-a-pee. And while I'm at it, it's the San Ja-cin-ta monument and battleground. But the little pissant town north of Galena Park is Jake City.

I really like all the on air personalities on KBTX except I never cared for Rusty Surette's drama enhanced stories. Now that he has been made a regular at 10 p.m. , my nightly local news watching has been completely ruined. Please don't bother calling me a hater. Guess I can write Mike Wright.
