Just heard Gander Mountain might close. Anyone know if this is true?

Is Gander Mountain in College Station closing?

The chain's going into Ch. 11 bankruptcy. I don't think there's been any announcement of stores closing.

if it did how would anyone know, it's pretty much empty every day in the first place
If Gander closes, and Academy relocating, would be interesting to see how the area would redevelop
Time to use that gift I've been holding on to before its to late.
Which begs the question; If Gander Mtn had a bankruptcy clearance sale would their prices still be higher than Academy's?
Bet they become churches and thus off the taxrolls.
Well, last week, they had a sign out front that read "store closing."

Would be nice to see Academy buy the Gander building and build a sky bridge linking the two. Have a fishing side and hunting side.

Speaking of closing....I heard around 140 JCPenney stores are closing...anyone know if ours is one?
Dickey's is only busy on Sundays when kids eat free.

Academy should of waited it out and moved into Gander Mountain after it closed. That specific area is going to be another humongous eyesore for CS come summer time.

Academy's relatively small but I think that Gander Mountain is about right for a grocery store, given that the other supermarkets are regularly packed out. Demolishing Academy and extending Appomattox to Horse Haven (from Raintree) should help with access problems and get rid of the empty box, and then the remaining space could be restaurant pads.
There will be no eyesore. Unless of course it comes off the tax rolls. Then it will be a sad day. missed opportunity for CoCS tax revenue.City of College Station: We are here to get the tax money baby.

That is just the first wave of stores. Wait a year or two. In this age with tough competition and internet sales with almost overnight delivery, you just can't price your products 30 to 50 percent higher than the competition.
What you do with Gander is look there and then go to Academy, Walmart, etc. and purchase the same item or buy online.
Bad business model.
