Brazos Runners Club is a new running group in College Station. If you're training for a 5k, half marathon or marathon, or if you just need some motivation to get in better shape, join us! We meet Wednesday evenings for shorter distance runs and on Saturday mornings for longer distance runs. Our meeting spot is the parking lot behind Harvey Washbangers and Systek Computing. On Wednesdays, we hang out at Harvey Washbangers for snacks and drinks following the run.

We're not a for-profit training group, and you won't receive coaching. We're just runners who like other runners. Find route and distance information on Facebook at Brazos Runners Club - Boat of Fools. For now, our current meetup times are 7:30 a.m. on Saturdays and 6:30 p.m. on Wednesdays, but these times are subject to change depending on the summer temperatures.

What kind of pace are y'all keeping? Or is it all across the board? Thinking about coming along next week, but not sure where I fall in with the group.

The goal is to have a range of paces. The last couple runs have had folks in the 8 minute mile range (or faster) and folks in the 11 minute mile range, with other paces in between. The intention is to have a broad range of pace options and a couple different distance options at each run to accommodate people in different phases of training. Good question!

Since it's been getting hot outside the group is now running at 7pm on Wednesday evenings and 7am on Saturday mornings. You're encouraged to get there about 5-10 minutes early so that you can get the route slip. There seems to be a wide range of paces, including some that jog/walk the route.

Is this for adults or are kids welcome?

There was a kid who ran with her mom last week, if that's the kind of thing you are asking about. It's not a "drop-your-kid-off" type of deal.

All participants must be 18 years of age or older. If you bring your children, you are responsible for them and their safety. We will not be able to monitor them. We're also not on sidewalks 100% of the time (we run in the street a good bit due to lack of sidewalks).

I also want to add that we now have a Google group in addition to our Facebook group. You can request membership by searching for "Brazos Runners Club" on groups.google.com.

In addition, we have a track practice tonight and will occasionally offer more track workouts. If you want to join, information can be found on our Facebook page.

Bringing this one up to the top of the board!

It's been 7-8 months since this club has stated and it has grown into a great group of folks! If anyone out there has any "want" to get out and start running or is tired of running alone, come out and join us. Whether you want run a marathon, half marathon, 10K, 5K, or just get out and run, we can help you accomplish your goals, and you get to hang out with some pretty awesome people!

Our schedule is as follows for the next few months until the daylight gets longer and before it gets too hot:

Mondays @ 6:30pm for track workouts - Meet at A&M Consolidated Middle School on Anderson track

Wednesdays @ 6:30pm for "tempo" runs, the routes range anywhere from 3 to 8 miles and there are 3 groups that run different mileage each week - Meet at Harvey Washbangers. Runners Happy Hour follows every Wednesday night run!

Saturdays @ 7:00am for the longer distance / training runs - Meet at Harvey Washbangers

Runners of all experience and paces are welcome! Facebook us - Brazos Runners Club

Think we're up to 83 members now. Great mix of folks. Large group always shows up for the local and surrounding runs.

There are no "official" group trail runs, but a lot of us enjoy running trails and meet on weekends to run at Millican or Lake Bryan. Also we're starting to organize relay teams at trail runs.

Are there any groups that run in the morning during the week?

Summer schedule starts this Monday, May 9th:

Monday track/speed workouts - 7:30pm at the A&M Consolodated Middle School track

Wednesday tempo runs - 7:30pm leaving from Harvey Washbangers. There are 3 distance options each week ranging from 3-6 miles. There is plenty of socializing and, more importantly, beer drinking after the run

Saturday long runs - 7:00am from Harvey Washbangers. There are 3 distance options each week ranging from 6-10 miles. Many of us go to breakfast together afterwards.

Distances for tempo and long runs will increase in late August as we head into training season for BCS. A water jug gets put on the tempo and long run routes, but runners are strongly encouraged to bring a water bottle due to the heat.

You do not need to be an official member to run with this group. Come run with us a couple times and see what it's like. Chances are good that you'll find someone at your pace (anywhere from 7:00-12:00m/m). We love new runners! Find us on Facebook, "Brazos Runners Club - Boat of Fools".

Cheers!

To answer your question: not to my knowledge. This group, on occasion, has had members organize unofficial weekday morning runs with some success. If you can make it out to a scheduled run one night, you would quite possibly find an audience interested in a weekday morning run.

Bumping this thread because we just celebrated our fourth anniversary this evening!
If you are interested in running with a local group, please check us out. Our runners range from Boston qualifiers to 13+ min/miles. We are a friendly and lively group. We also do our best to support the local beer drinking industry.
