I hate them all!! I need gravy, not sauce, cream gravy dammit!!

Had Laynes the other day, and it was good, but I used ketchup instead of that sauce. Ketchup and gravy are both better than spicy sauce.

Cane's, not Layne's. Sorry Layne's fans.

BTW, if you are into chicken strips, the best I have had in the area are out at the gas station at the corner of Hwy 60/Hwy 50 towards Snook. They spice up the batter a little and they are really good, especially when fresh.

Every once in a while, I stop and get 4 or 5 strips and some cream gravy when I am heading that direction around lunch time.

It's interesting on here that some will raise holy hell about On The Border and some other establishments hit by the Health Dept. but will look past the filth and awful service at Layne's to get their precious chicken strips that can be duplicated by about 40 other establishments in the area.

My biggest problem with Layne's is the customer service.

If the poor service was "tongue in cheek", I would put up with it and laugh (feeling like I was in on the joke). Instead, it is to the point that I feel that I am inconveniencing the employees by being a patron. That may work when you are the only place in town and serve good food. With yet another competitor moving next door, I just don't think the current business model will keep their market share where it needs to be to stay open.

The last few times I have been in there, it seems to be all about the employees and not the customers - If an 'off the clock' employee comes in, they all stop to chat and check the time cards, schedule, etc etc..., while neglecting the person waiting to order. It is also not a good feeling when the working employees are all having fun with each other and laughing, but as soon as they turn to the customer, it is an obvious change of attitude.

Not all customers are stupid. We know the difference between a "gimmick" and an employee being straight up indifferent and rude.

Yes, Cane's may be better and worse in some areas - but the customer service department is head and shoulders above.

If I want quick chicken fingers on my way home, I hit Layne's on Wellborn.

If the Ags break 71 points in a basketball game (or whatever the number is now) and the SO and I are in the mood for fingers slightly less-salty than Chicken E, we hit Cain's for the 2 for 1 deal.

If I want a beer with my chicken, I guess I can give Fowl Digits a try. If they serve waffles there too, they'd have a gold mine on their hands.

Also without a doubt, Laynes has the slowest drive through in town. Plus I don't know how cars don't bottom out daily on that raggedy parking lot.

I found this hilarious.

But, seriously, Layne's isn't going anywhere. Most college students don't care about how (un)clean it is. Heck, I know a couple of guys who prefer Layne's to Cane's because of the atmosphere. It's cheap, good food and that's what's going to keep people, mainly students, coming back.

I can't wait to try FD because of the chicken & waffles. I can't wait!

I hate to brag, but I have been able to try some of the FD offerings. Man oh man! This place is NOTHING like Laynes or Canes. It's not just your every day chicken fingers...it's different food altogether, and it tastes great! Wait til you try the Bacon Bangers! I can't wait for it to open!! (No....I'm not the owner nor a part of the staff).

Checked out their menu. The gumbo looked interesting.

Does anybody know the manager or owner of Laynes? I would love to hear their explanation on the non existent customer service at Laynes. Im assuming they lack leadership skills and the empolyees are just following the lead.

Either way Laynes is NOT what Im looking for in my eating out experience

Layne's customer service is usually horrible. God forbid you asked for 2 grilled baskets...

I find just one of their grilled baskets provides more then enough grease and salt at one sitting...
