My son played a senior league All-Star game at (and against) Bryan West last night.
College Station lost. Too many errors, we got run ruled. That happens.
One of our coaches was ejected and asked to leave the facility. That happens.

The senior official on site stalked our dugout pointing at players, coaches and parents.
That shouldn't happen.

In the last inning, my son was taunted, and was the target of racial slurs. He was called out( as in asked to fight after the game) and personally threatened by West players.
That shouldn't happen

After 12years in Little League baseball, this was the first time I have ever feared for the safety of my family.

This is the last year my kids will be involved in events that require them to play at Bryan West.

I am glad of that.

I feel horrible that that happened to your son and no one should have to endure such treatment at a little league game. For the sake of the sport, and all those that attend, please bring up your concerns to your league president and the DA Hardy Neville or ADA Ace Almanza. If nothing else, they need to be made aware of what has happened.

I understand you are upset but I also believe that every story has two sides. My experience in LL baseball is the LL officals do not take sides. Why would this official decide to "stalk" the CS dugout?

Again, I am not taking sides but why would a grownup pick on some kids in a dugout. Could you explain?

I called a West game one time and ended the game early because a fan allegedly showed a blade to a 10 year old kid.

I got tackled and run into the fence one time at a CS LL game (East vs. CSN I believe, I was catching), but it was okay, because Jimmy Scales (the runner) was the super intendent's son...

It's a good thing I was able to hold onto the ball, there were two runs following him if he wasn't the 3rd out.

Alright, now I see Stoney has told part of the story but lets see how about the whole story or the missing parts!!!

Richard Garcia Head umpire for West had to
escort Albert Gonter out....again....for unsportsmanlike conduct- being a coach he flicked off the umpires, he said really ugly bad words and when asked to stop saying those things in front of his own team he
dropped the f bomb and said to *!@ them! Mr. Gonter cussed the whole way to his motorcycle.

West was winning and won that game by run rule....so why would the West players even do what this Stoney person is claiming?? Makes no sense. But my whole point is that......people stop making a big deal of nothing if you are not willing to share how your coach acted.

Yes it was very appropriate for the Head Umpire to stay close to that dugout seeing how the coach acted. Lets leave things alone and if your team can't handle the talent, then work harder with them. West has a lot of very talented players, and we all are very proud of each and every one of them!!

This, unfortunately, is pretty typical of his behavior. I don't see why they still let him be involved. Everyone that has been around CSLL for any time at all knows about him.

Dismissing this behavior as "that happens" destroys your credibility, imo.

Last year in Pony ball, Gonter's son was ejected from a game for cussing out some 12 yr olds that were beating his team. After the game, the elder Gonter tried to fight one of our coaches and cussed out a team of 12 yr olds.

The West folks acted the same way at Southwood during the regular season.

This is a far cry from the West team that was so successful last year. They were courteous and respectful. They beat College Station, too.

Gonter's behavior was unpardonable, and reflected badly on the team. The kids are well disciplined and well behaved.

That does not change the fact that my son was threatened.

Stoney,

I think you are exagerating because those young men on the West team, never once said anything to your son. Yes, I was there, I never once seen anyone say anything negative except the College Station Coach. As a matter of fact, those one of the umpires and the tournament director and score keeper where apart of the team last year. I am sure they would have said something to the players had they heard the comments. If you didn't hear it for your own ears, then don't judge!!!!

All the leagues are so quick to judge West, but I can guarantee you one thing.....It is because we are winning that we get the criticism because if we were losing CSLL and everyone else wouldn't have a problem with it. Atleast at West, we can say, when we win it is an honest win and not one that had to be given to us by umpires or league officials!!!

parent-
Criticism can be hard to hear and even tougher to believe. Our experience with the West all star team this year was mostly positive, but we have experienced inappropriate behavior in the past. Just as there are idiots in every profession, there are folks in each league who fail to live up to the standards we expect from people involved with our kids, including other kids. Each league has it's issues. Together we can help improve all of our situations and the possibilities for the future.

Could Stoney's son have misunderstood what the West player was saying? Yes, possibly. Could one West player have buckled in the moment and said something stupid? Anyone with a kid knows the answer to that one. Any kid is capable of making a poor choice. West has its bad apples as does CSLL and each of the leagues.

Yes, we as parents know our children can say and do anything at the drop of a coin----however my whole point in all this is that people need to stop bashing other leagues because it has been my experience that every league has issues and bad attitudes towards certain situations. Why didn't Stoney, say the whole story and leave out crucial parts??

I know West is not perfect but for that matter no league is, College Station proved it this weekend, Madisonville proved it this weekend, and I am pretty sure other leagues have also proved it at one time or another. So lets quit bashing the leagues, and try volunteering more!!!
