Yea, swimmer is talking about the coast guard guy. Hard to believe that it isn't legit though given the the tweet from Noem.

Here is a news article that mentions someone by that name from a different time.
literally the only thing I can find about ruskin thats not the specific Noem quote, but then I found something on Twitter saying the quote was misattributed and a coastie by the last name of hyde said it.
super bizarre that no one on social media has posted a picture or claimed to know him that I can find. my apologies for the derail.
edit: definitely not talking about Glenn (although I haven't seen a pic of him either but that's ok) he's real, hes amazing, and we love Glenn.
Scott Ruskin is the mystery man.

That brought back a memory. Those words are from the book "All I Really Need to Know I Learned in Kindergarten" by Robert Fulghum. I have that book with me at all times, I keep it in the console of whatever pickup I own at the time. I was given it by my mother-in-law, Christmas '96, probably because she knew me pretty well from having been my 7th grade math teacher and possibly it was a shot across my bow.Gmanoutdoors said:
-Share everything.-Play fair.-Don't hit people.
-Put things back where you found them.-Clean up your own mess.-Don't take things that aren't yours.
-Say you're sorry when you hurt somebody.-Wash your hands before you eat.
-Flush!
-Warm cookies and cold milk are good for you.
-Live a balanced life learn some and think some and draw and paint and sing and dance and play and work every day some.
-Take a nap every afternoon.-When you go out into the world, watch out for traffic, hold hands, and stick together.
-Be aware of wonder
-Remember the little seed in the styrofoam cup? The roots go down and the plant goes up and nobody really knows how or why, but we are all like that. Goldfish and hamsters and white mice and even the little seed in the Styrofoam cup they all die. So do we. And then remember the Dick-and-Jane books and the first word you learned the biggest word of all LOOK.
Everything you need to know is in there somewhere. The Golden Rule and love and basic sanitation. Ecology and politics and equality and sane living. Take any of those items and extrapolate it into sophisticated adult terms and apply it to your family life or your work or your government or your world and it holds true and clear and firm. Think what a better world it would be if the whole world had cookies and milk about three o'clock every afternoon and then lay down with our blankies for a nap. Or if all governments had a basic policy to always put things back where they found them and to clean up their own mess. And it is still true, no matter how old you are… when you go out into the world, it is best to hold hands and stick together.

I want to take a moment while there's a lull in the news to say again how great this TexAgs community is. This thread has reminded me at times of the original Harvey thread on the Houston board (Glenn could be the blue shed, if anyone gets that analogy).
Aggies are just the greatest people in the world. As always, this is the place for accurate info and heartfelt reflections.
Thankfully, I have no direct connection to this awful tragedy, but I do have multiple two- and three- people removed connections. I say that to say even though I have not been directly impacted, I am deeply invested.
Like many of you have posted, I spent the whole day yesterday diligently refreshing the thread, desperately waiting for information and updates. As a mom to girls the same ages as these campers, I see my babies every time I see these sweet girls' pictures. I have cried off and on since this story broke on Friday.
To those of you (Derm, Badace, specifically) who are impacted, thank you for trusting us to share your stories. I hope you know we celebrate and grieve with yall, and are praying for your families every step.
That's it. I had to get that off my chest.

Since the name has been posted already I will verify that Virginia Hollis is our local Bellville girl who is still missing. She is one of the sweetest little girls we know. A loving family who have been life long friends to us. Our kids are all the same ages and have known each other their entire life. Our entire town is hurting and praying she is somehow found safe. The last 24 hours have been so difficult. Please God let these girls be found alive.

its so wierd, but i couldn't find a picture of the dude literally anywhere
I applaud that, but one day down the road this guy should be recognized with whatever the highest award he can be recognized with.

Accolades are not for everyone. Especially those that might have survivors guilt.
Let me point out that Glenn probably lost whatever vehicle he had in flood. Much more utility than a shoutout during a timeout of a football game.
If someone close to him can find out and is willing to start a fund, I'm in.

I'm hearing it's officially become a recovery mission now. Anyone else hearing that?
Haven't heard it, but wouldn't be surprised. Although I'm still hopeful, I'm not really expecting them to find any more survivors.DG-Ag said:

Seconded. This has been my go to thread for news and updates over the last few days.
Thank you all
