So I am not an Indian food eater, in fact I think it's groce but I have a dinner in Houston tmrw night w a customer who booked Indian food.

So does anyone on this board know what I can order that doesn't have curry and resembles US food or say middle Eastern food? Any help will be appreciated, I know zero about eating with the Patels

Indian food is delicious, unless you are scared of seasoning, flavor, or spices you should be fine.

See if they have a kids menu, if so maybe they have some chicken nuggets or a burger you might like.

This. Had it for lunch today. Try it. Lots of vegetarian dishes. Healthy stuff.

Indian Food, in my opinion, is bipolar. It's either fantastic and I can't wait to get more or it's the grossest **** I have ever tasted in my life. It's almost never in between.

I can't help you OP other than do a little research on popular dishes ahead of dinner and then ask your guy that booked it what his favorite things are. You can either follow his lead and hope you find something you like or you can just be honest that Indian food isn't something you know crap about. I've don't this a few times with weird restaurants with clients and most of the time they like ordering a bunch of stuff and helping you out.

Good luck! The wrong choice may impact your bowels for a few days

Yes that's what I have experienced- some of that crap was the nastiest stuff ever.

We are going to Kirans and it looks more like an American menu so maybe not too bad

I don't need messed up bowels with the big weekend coming up.. lol

Butter Chicken or Butter Paneer (a type of cheese) are probably one of the most common dishes you will find. The curry is made from tomato sauce, butter/yogurt/cream, and spices. So, it has a different tasting curry than others. Tikka Masala is similar. They have a much more tomato flavored curry.

Biryani is rice with veggies and meat in it. Similar to like a chicken fried rice dish from an Americanized Chinese food joint.

Tandoori Chicken is basically Indian rotisserie.

Lots of Indian places also have other south Asian dishes or Indo Chinese dishes, so there is usually some type of stir fry.

It's basically the pepperoni pizza of Indian food.

Chicken Tikka Masala was literally created in England for the English to eat. If you can't stand more spices than the English then you need to get yourself to a doctor, something is wrong.

I don't know what kind of laundry detergent your wife uses but I wouldn't wear anything I wasn't prepared to burn afterwards.

That menu looks great and many things that don't exactly scream Indian food like the bison ribeye. Making me hungry...

Agree w/the tandoori chicken. Will also suggest the spinach that IIRC is a yoghurt/spinach dish. It is in my experience a very mild dish that does not have curry or any other powerful spices or flavorings. And it is good too. And don't forget to try the naan bread.

Love a good butter chicken, but given your stated preferences, I doubt that you will like it. Nonetheless, I still think you should try it. You might just surprise yourself.

Kiran's was fantastic the last time I went. Everything I have had there was great.

You'll be fine.

You can go back to eating Whataburger and Chicken Express every other day after this is done.

Korma. Technically it's a curry dish, but it's mild and harmless. It's actually really good.

Bison Ribeye sounds like Indian food… but not that kind of Indian…

Kirans is very good and plenty of tame options if you want. Butter chicken or tandoori chicken are both good and safe. Pick any of the breads that sound good. Same can be said for samosas.

Butter chicken, garlic naan, tandoori chicken. Stay away from anything labeled "masala".

Show your guest some culture. Tell the waiter you'd like to order off menu and have them bring you some mutton vindaloo. Then buckle up!

This….. it's really the only thing I know about Indian food and it's delicious.

Chicken Tikka Masala, rice, and garlic naan bread. Good stuff. I typically go on the heavier side like vindaloo lamb which is like having a really spiced up carne guisada. Indian food is good stuff. As long as they have a good ventilation system in the kitchen your clothes will be fine. Hell Whataburger makes my hands stink for a full day and the inside of a car smell for a week.

Tandoori Chicken and Nan bread about as non Indian Indian food as you can get.
