The AM radio garden guys swears that you can deter it by keeping your tree healthy. He touts antidotes of pouring his compost tea to build up health and cornmeal drenched to deter wilt fungus.

Here's a couple of articles I found … probably more

I don't have any first hand experience. However, my father just have a bunch of tree work on his oaks done. He didn't have any oak wilt but it was in his area and he wanted to take a preemptive action. The arborist he used did say a diagnosed tree can be saved, but it's not 100% type thing. Also, it's just an evitability that oak wilt will eventually spread across the entire state and the current 2-3 year drought is has really push a lot of oaks to the edge and not helped the matter.

On our ranch had luck treating the Live Oaks with Alamo. Also trenched to create a 100 foot 48" deep buffer zones. The Red Oaks was not able to save as had to remove them and burn the wood. To replace the lost Red Oaks replaced them with Mexican White Oak & Lacy Oaks. The Post Oaks on the ranch were not effected.

Diagnosed from symptoms or tissue samples sent to the plant pathology lab?

Symptoms only. I'm struggling with this as there are no tell tale signs of oak wilt (vein necrosis/red veins). Significant leaf drop, one tree most severely impacted looks oak wilt because of the dramatic leaf drop. Picture on my original post of that tree. Almost every leaf has black spots on it

I haven't seen oak wilt leaves look like that. Could it be something else?

Briggs Oat Wilt Service was started by Jamie Briggs, a very loyal Aggie and great guy. He passed away about a month and a half ago. Bobby Gene Carroll took over the business several years ago. He is a great guy as well. I don't know much about oak wilt but you should be in good hands.

It has worked its way west to between Mason and Menard on 29, haven't been north of Mason in awhile so don't know how far it is in that direction.

That looks like a different type of fungal infection to me. Black spot symptoms instead of venal necrosis.
But it is possible to have multiple diseases. (Reminds me of a girl I used to know)
