Not sure if serious given the emoji. I mean yes, they eventually decompose like all organic matter. Are you trying to draw a distinction between the processes of rot and decay, or are you suggesting that the law of entropy and the process of decomposition of organic matter are some how ineffective against mesquite thorns?

If they never decayed we would be swimming in thorny, painful, vile, miserable fields of them.
