Anybody aware of day or season lease for dove in Matagorda or Wharton counties? We just moved down here so getting to know people hasn't really happened yet.

Been looking in Matagorda county as well for a while. There is a hunting club that operates in that area but I havent seen anything private that you could book for a full season.

El Campo is pretty commercialize now. Multiple outfits offer hunts for $150 per day and seemed to be packed the first weekend or two of the season. The closer to the city limits the better the hunting tends to be.

Supply and demand... a lot of people are more than happy to pay that price for a decent dove hunt. The market price has been trending that way for a while, especially places close to Houston and with a decent amount of birds.

Check with Texas public Land hunting.

$150/ day is about $100/ day too much especially during these tough times and to shoot just 15 birds.

The new public land map isn't out until the 15th, but last year there was nothing around

On the bright side, if you can shoot at all, you'll limit in about 20 minutes and be back in Houston for brunch.

Also interested in this but would prefer a 2-3 day event, even consider somewhere South/West Texas.

Double down and get Bink to take you out fishing in the morning and dove hunting in the afternoon. The lodge is nice and has a lighted fishing deck to soak a line and drink whiskey after dove hunting.

It was a couple of years since our last trip, but Bink has a good place with lots of doves.

Unfortunately he's booked for dove. I may end up going with him for duck

Butch's Guide Service is running dove hunts of the Pearce Ranch this year.

Any personal experience with them? Pearce Ranch may have some good dove hunting depending on what crops were planted this year. Last couple of years it seems to be mostly cotton in the area near there.

I have hunted several time on the Pearce Ranch for duck/goose but not dove.

Call Sammy Ramono at (713) 306-3574.

He'll shoot straight with you. I know they have the whole ranch for dove season.
