Saw the Sig P320 for $499. On PSA daily deal.

I don't NEED this but If I can buy it "right" I would like to pick one up.

Any thoughts/experience with this handgun?

I have one and love it. It's a great shooter and very customizable. Everyone that has shot mine has fallen in love with it, and that was before I made a couple of upgrades. I've since added fiber optic sights and upgraded the grip to a larger one to better fit my gorilla hands.

Have a P320 Rx. I am not crazy about the Sig optic included, but love the gun otherwise. Zero failures through several thousand rounds.

Ditto this. Mine is still stock but it is a sweet shooter and has impressed everyone else I've let shoot it. Mine is 9mm full size.

I have a P320 in .40 with the compact frame. I like the trigger and overall feel. It's always shot well for me.

If you are interested I'd sell it and beat that price. Only reason I'm selling is I'm consolidating cartridges and it's the only .40 I own so it's on the chopping block.

Have a full size and a compact. Love them. Both with Apex flat trigger shoes(only like $40 I think).

I'll say this though. I haven't looked around in a couple years, but when I bougth mine $499 wasn't that great for one with contrast sights. Could get them for that at Academy all day everyday. I bought my full sized with night sights at Cabelas for $550

Just bought a M17 this past weekend. Haven't shot it yet since I was only able to get one box of 9mm ammo and didn't want to use them at the range until I found more.

It was $599 for the non-manual safety M17 with a 17 round magazine and two 21 round magazine

I just put a Wilson combat frame on my compact it's cool but it requires full size mags with that frame

CT, I might be interested in your .40 for the right price. Can you send me info/pictures to krh0307 at gmail dot com

I did not know this was a thing an now I must have it. Optional tungsten weights would make for a good competition frame.

You think that's fun, did you know you can SBR a 320 module and drop it into this?

Compact 9mm and Full size .45. Shoot very well with both of them.

Still partial to hammer fired pistols myself, but hard not to recommend a 320.

Mine in .45 ACP is excellent. Good as my Glock.

I have an xcarry and love everything but the trigger. Good enough trigger, just don't love it. Switching to grey guns trigger in hope of improving the feel.

Do they not make the X carry any more? I can't seem to find one.

Finally took my P320 M17 to the range today. It has been over 10 years since I have fired a pistol and have a lot to work on, but it was really easy to shoot. Only had one issue with a jam when I initially rode the slide back after a magazine load. I was using the Winchester 9mm NATO ammo (50 rounds total)

It's a good pistol for people who don't shoot pistols very much. It was the low bid for a reason.

I tried really hard to hate the gun. But it does have some positives going for it. Ergonomically it's well done in how it fits your hand, controls are positioned correctly and are easy to use, the take down lever is properly positioned for your support hand thumb (which most folks have no clue about).

Two frame sizes are fine, but little customization after that. Texturing on the frame leaves a lot to be desired and its got sharp edges everywhere on the slide and frame. The bore height is a real issue for me.

The trigger is nice, but there is a trade off. The striker is fully cocked, so in many ways you are carrying a 1911 with the hammer back and the thumb safety disengaged. You do carry it with the safety engaged right? Oh, wait...

For the RFQ is was designed for it is fine and in many ways an improvement over the M9. But if you are spending your own money there are much better options. My $.02s...there you go.

Can you explain more for the layman like me why this striker-fire design is less safe than others?
Puryear Playboy

Less Safe is a term I didn't use. But you may recall that Sig had to recall all of the 320 series to replace the triggers.

They use the term Pretensioned to describe the status of the striker. It's basically fully cocked in its resting state and when you press the trigger you are simply releasing it to launch forward. On all other modern striker designs the striker is drawn into its release position by the rearward movement of the trigger. This adds weight and additional effort to the trigger actuation.

Good? Bad? Reliable? Jury is still out. How will it hold up long term in a military arm (which means treated worse than a frying pan you never clean)? Don't know.

I suspect it will have issues since they couldn't even get the initial models out the door without SIGnificant problems (sorry).

Unsafe? Not now, apparently. Don't get me wrong, I am not a Sig hater. I really like the company. Was just up there for a week at Sig Academy, the EVP is a close personal friend and I have hung out with Ron Cohen in his office (very, very cool guy BTW). Just not a fan of the 320/M17 series.

I edited because I didn't read your reply thoroughly.

Thanks for the explanation.

Feel free to draw your own conclusions.

The models depends on an internal safety device which you have no control over, or means to verify is always functioning properly, to prevent the the gun from discharging.

The original design allowed it to fire by mearly dropping it in such a way that it landed on the rear sight creating enough inertia to disengage the passive safeties and also discharge the weapon.

That's not optimal. And speaks to a lot of slick engineering and tolerance stacking to get a slightly better trigger pull geometry and weight.

Sig is the largest gun company on this planet, or any other, so who I am I to say? I'm just giving you my thoughts.

One of the funniest memes of 2019 was the pic of the Full Auto modification for the 320...a stairwell.

I have no plans of carrying this one, it is mainly for protection at the house and going to the range (especially since it is the non-manual safety version).

Me too. I hate to have any firearm that I don't trust, but I admit the initial issues with the P320 had me concerned, but I trusted they were mitigated by the recall.

Mine is only a nightstand gun, but if like to feel comfortable carrying it if I ever wanted to.

Can get an IWI Masada for less for a nightstand gun.
