The guy carrying the SR-25 weapon system on his left sleeve says US Secret Service, should have been a giveaway on who they are. Salamon XA shoes so you know he is a real shooter...

It makes sense for the primary sniper to be using a bolt action and that .338 can reach out to distances where the overwhelming majority of shooters cannot hit the president from.

Looks like a Steiner 20x80. Never used one, as I don't have use for a bino that requires the user to focus each eyepiece separately. And too, the "auto-focus" of IF Steiners give me eye strain.

They aren't tremendously expensive. Around $1500, give or take.

Most SS guys are retired special ops guys. Guy on the left is a lefty but carrying with his right hand. Bolt of the gun is on the right of the gun.

Probably a last second move or show of force since most snipers are set up well before the events.

My guess based upon what is seems his role would be is he's SS "CAT" - which yes, is made up of prior shooters and operators.
