I have a Huster Raptor, and am getting close to that recommended 20 hour first oil change. Is this a giant pain that should require me to take it in to the independent dealer, or is this something relatively easy to do on a weekend?

Very easy. Find beer; drink beer. Find drain plug, remove drain plug, drink more beer, drain oil. Drink more beer. Replace drain plug. Replace filter. Add oil. <=== Double check you did this with all the beer drinking. Drink another beer.
Thanks. That does sound more accurate.AgResearch said:FIFYgoatchze said:

You forgot the part about doing it next to the storm sewer drain.AgResearch said:FIFYgoatchze said:

Dad's have been teaching this method for decades and it worked perfectly every time. with all the lawncare services out there now i fear what future generations will become.AgResearch said:FIFYgoatchze said:

...avoid Wix filters for any air cooled engines...
I thought the same thing, but my small engine guy pointed out that the blown engine on my riding mower had a Wix filter and that 80%-90% of the engines that he sees that are blown all have only 1 thing in common - Wix filters. Something about them that they just don't do well on air cooled engines (can't remember if he said too restrictive or not nearly restrictive enough on the media - it's been 9 months or so now).TOM-M said:OK..............................why?schmellba99 said:

They're metal cans where the oil typically goes in several little holes, through some media, and returned through a big hole. With a gasket to keep them from leaking and maybe different colored paint. Seriously, what's wrong with WIX on air-cooled? Leaks? Media no bueno or too restrictive? Something else?

When it is time for an oil change you might as well sell your mower. Please post your contact info so I can come pick it up and relieve you of this problem.

My mechanic grandfather swears your should buy the cheapest oil filter available. Says the better filters are too restrictive and are prone to lock up faster. I know my oil pressure runs about 5-10 psi higher when I run the cheap (Walmart super tech) filters vs wix and fram.
