Bladder cancer is usually very treatable, but for some, nothing works. My dad lived 5 weeks after he was diagnosed, a cousin lived 18 months.
I am fortunate that my father survived stage IV bladder cancer. They focus on smoking as a cause, but any fine particulates and/or organic chemicals are an issue. Of special importance to the OB, that includes diesel soot/exhaust, and pesticides (both likely contributing to his cancer, as he didn't smoke).
If you're in the rubber molding industry or make chemicals used for it, you also have an increased risk. Of course, I was working for a rubber and plastics molding co. when I found that out.
