My group of buddies have been going on an annual waterfowl hunt for 14 years and counting. We have hunted up in the panhandle, down on the coast, in the rice in Arkansas, and the river bottoms in Kansas. We are looking for an outfitter and lodging for 10 dudes that specialize in flooded timber for the 2019-2020 season. We are open to location know that the prime stops are from southern Missouri down to Northern Louisiana. Anybody have any recommendations? TIA.

This is extremely dicey.

If I can give you advice. I would book one of the top spots several years out for the second split opener. So many of these places get super dicey when weather doesn't pan out.

For example - Habitat Flats is awesome, but they killed no ducks this year. I went to an exclusive place in Arkansas 1 year and burned them. Following year killed 1 duck one day. F that.

Stan Jones is exclusive my buddy went 5 times, and the 5 time they didn't pump any water and screwed all the hunters.

Things are strange, you are also best going where you have hunted in the past OR someone recommends you.

I went to Angel Wings in ScottsBluff, NE and this area holds birds. Caught bad weather and the birds were not feeding and we wasted our time. Going to https://www.fowlcooutfitters.com/ here it's a new outfitter in Feb to kill geese, I can let you know what type of a set up it is after going.

Yea I know it's dicey we went to Arkansas one year and smashed the birds the next time we went shot 5 birds all weekend between 8 guys. We know there are a lot of variables when it comes to hunting. We have looked into Habitat Flats but like you said they didn't shoot much this year. We go up to Tule Creek just about every year but we like to make a bigger trip every 3-4 years. We want to do flooded timber and we want to go hunt Chesapeake Bay, after that we might try to make it up to Canada.

That's interesting to hear about HF I follow Tony on IG and it made it seem like they were killing them pretty solid all season.

I know you said flooded timber, but I can't help there other than agree with the warnings of it being a little bit of crapshoot on conditions.

If you are looking for a bucket list type trip look at WyoBraska Waterfowl - JJ Randolph owns it. They hunt western Nebraska and eastern Wyoming on the North Platte River. We hunted 4 days did a combo Goose and Duck hunt. They duck hunt on the river so water isn't a problem - we got limits every hunt even fighting some funky weather. They goose hunt fields in heated pit blinds - ridiculas volumes of birds that came down right on top of us. They also do snow goose hunts if your into that - much different than down here around Houston. The birds have not been called and shot at much so are not as wary. Overall great hunt......

Redleg Outfitters has some great timber hunts a group of us hunted with them this past season and was really happy with the timber hunts.
