I've got a 7 year old, 10 lb rat terrier. He got a 3-yr dose of rabbies, parvo, and bordatella yesterday. Today at 8pm, he started panting heavily, shivering, etc. Also got his monthly of ivermectine yesterday.

Gave him a heating pad and 4.25 mL of infants Benadryl.

This is weird behavior for him. He's not eating or drinking, won't go outside either.

Anything else I can do ? Should I take him to ER?

Update: I think Benadryl is kicking in. Panting has almost stopped now.

Yeah panting has stopped. Benadryl did the trick.

Called a friend who is a DVM. Said to keep dosing him every 6-8 he for next 24. Sounds like a solid plan.

Monitor very carefully and possibly go on and take the dog to the vet Monday.

My folks lost a otherwise healthy dog a few months ago suddenly after a reaction to vaccine. It happened about 4 days afterwards. Extreme immune reaction that ended shutting multiple of her body's systems down. Spent a couple days in a specialist vet hospital before they had to put her down as it was beyond hope. I think they tried a blood replacement or other somewhat novel treatment but nothing worked.

Did you administer the ivermectin?

Dogs can OD on it, with smaller ones being more susceptible.

Yes I did. He's 10.2 lbs, box says 10-20 lbs.
