Looking to do a little farm work on the place. Dont want to rent or hire out. Max budget of $20k with 10-15k preferred. Older is fine...something in the 10,000lb range, so on the smaller side. Not super picky as long as the basics are good on it (hydraulic pump, engine, trans, fuel pump, loader and backhoe pins with normal wear but bushings in decent shape). Seeps and drips and re-packing cylinders not a big deal. Heck, I would settle for a good sized 4x4 tractor with a frame mounted backhoe (no 3point mounted ones).

Anyhow, if anyone has or knows of anyone selling, please let me know.

(Ive looked on machinery trader, tractorhouse, craigslist, facebook marketplace, offerup, etc.) On any that I actually went to see were grossly understated in their issues.

I have a John Deere 310E 4WD that needs a wiring harness. Rats got in there and made a mess. It was a good running machine with a few drips but a real strong motor. The harness is about 1800 from JD. I would let it go for 5K.

If all else fails, Ritchie brothers might have something up for auction.

I'd like to know more about your 310 if OP passes. Where are you located?

How many hours on it? Enclosed cab?

I know you said backhoe but do you need a front end loader also or just a backhoe? The mini and midi excavators are my preference for backhoe work and the front blade on them is real handy. Some models depending on size fit on a low boy trailer and can be easily loaded without using ramps. My last one had a thumb attached and could load heavy objects. Ritchie bros Houston has a sale next week.

Rich I think I might be getting hopeandreal changes backhoe...its a strong contender. I will know in the next day or so. Do you have more details you can provide?

Mas....yes a backhoe fits my needs pretty well. I agree the ideal combo for most is an excavator and a track loader skid steer. A backhoe is a compromise. Still gets the job done, just slower. But you don't have to maintain two separate machines.
