**** it, like arguing with a fence post with y'all.
Because your argument has zero merit and is complete fudd.

An AR chambered in .22LR is no different than a 10/22 chambered in .22LR other than the AR out of the box is more ergonomic than a 10/22.

Why do you care what the OP wants to buy for their son?
You mean like how an AR-15 is evil but a Mini-14 is A-OK?

At least according to the previous "assault weapons" ban anyway.

Found this if you like 10/22

I don't have any opinion on what OP's son needs or doesn't need, but I do kinda think that ARs in .22lr just generally look kinda dumb. I love ARs, and I get that the frame is ergonomic and all, but it just seems kinda chintzy to have one chambered for .22lr.

Just my aesthetic opinion. Flame away.

I kinda agree. I honestly prefer the original aluminum GSG5. I know they are corny but that's just me.

A 7-year old doesn't need an AR style rifle. A standard Ruger 10/22 will do.

What about 9mm? Or .308?

I'm arrogant, have you read how badly I've been curbed stomped for offering my opinion?

OPINION people, I'm sorry for a late night post. I own an AR which I've modified myself, I have nothing against them. For ****s sake leave it alone.

So long as you and your son are happy shooting together and he's being taught correctly then it shouldn't matter what TexAgs has to say.

Again I apologize for having offended so many of y'all.

.308 would be an AR-10. 9mm in the AR platform looks dumb too, TBH. Again, just my aesthetic opinion.

I probably have over 30,000 rounds through my 15-22. Once you find the ammunition it likes, it runs like a top. I clean it about three times a year.

I really thought you were just trying to be funny on your original post

What does an ar platform do that a 10/22 cant?

Tone.

When writing, it says as much or more than words.

The AR has an adjustable stock for one thing. That is a bigger deal for a growing kid than it is for us adults. When fully collapsed, they can be shorter than your junior rifle stocks.
