I've lived in Austin for 18 years and this is the first year I can remember that we have had hardly any mosquitos. Usually by this time they are swarming. I spend a lot of time outside in the yard and I see maybe a couple a day. Even in the evening I am not seeing them or June bugs for that matter, not that I'm complaining. What's up with this?

Even the mosquitos turned gay in Austin?

I have seen plenty of mosquitos in the Waco area, but very few June bugs.

I have sprayed for mosquitos several times already this summer.

Maybe they released the black mirror mosquitoes

Go to Colorado. They're thick as thieves. It's been dry enough throughout many areas of Texas this spring and summer to keep the mosquitoes at bay.

Nope! I'm enjoying not being covered in bites.

We have mosquitoes in our back yard. They never leave.

I always find the ebb and flow of critters interesting. No mosquitoes to speak of here, but cicadas have emerged at the local wildlife refuge. Also, the last few weeks, its been covered up with dragonflies.

Currently horny toads (Texas horned lizards) are on the upswing, and so are quail. Yet we've seen a huge die-off in prairie dogs. Likely due to Bubonic plague.

I have not seen a gulf coast toad this year. I can't remember a year when there weren't several hanging around, crapping on my patio.

We've had our share in Round Rock. About average or slightly higher.

Not sure why we call them "June bugs" anymore. Should be April bugs. We haven't had them in June in 8-10 years
