Definitely give it a try tomorrow.
I fished until noon at surfside today and it was green to the beach. I finished with 2 keepers but caught 10-15 dinks on topwaters. It looked like live bait guys were having luck.

You wanna know how I know you don't fish the surf?

I'm sitting on the seaway at the spot. Surf is flat. I'll be on the west end later and try to report back.

Was thinking about using the boat down but decided not to. Might have to reconsider.

It's definitely flat out there here at the West End. Will be out with the sunrise.

I live on padre island. I lived in Galveston for a year in 06. I know you Houstonians love Galveston, but the surf was dirty every time I went.

It is... except for like 7-10 days a year (complete guess but the number is low). It wasn't green last weekend but the surf was super flat. I saw more dolphin from the beach one morning than I have in my entire life of going to Galveston.

Not Laguna Madre green, but greenish.

And in regards to "loving" Galveston... you have to look at it from a different perspective than just quality of the beach.

Would I love have a place in Port A, Port O, or SPI? Heck yeah. But you wouldn't make it but a few times a year and it would be a PITA to get to and from. Plus, less SPI, they don't really have the amenities and family type stuff that Galveston does.

I'm by no means a spokesperson for Galveston but given the proximity, things to do on the island with a family, plenty of grocery options, good restaurants, and having parents retired down there, it's alright for me.

It was green and clear in some spots near Pass Cavallo this past week.

If you've never seen flat, green to the beach surf in Galveston or Surfside, you need to get out more. Fishing bliss. Some of the best fishing days I've ever had have been out there.

Any recommendations for this weekend? Staying at that Stella RV resort by 8 mile road.

Thanks in advance.

Sunday morning looks like it might be good in the surf, if you can avoid the rain/thunderstorms. It's showing NE wind.

Saturday you're probably best bet is to drive down Sportsman's road (just down Stewart) and throw live bait with a slight wade near the grass line.

I don't think there is public parking anymore at Sportsman's Road. I could be wrong.

I've been at Galveston when the conditions were right when I could clearly see my feet in chest deep water in the surf. Doesn't happen often, but it happens.

You might be right... haven't parked there in a few years.
