I would like to know the year and model of a gun. I have been to their website but I can't seem to break the Browning code. It is a Citori and I would guess that it was made in the 60's or 70's but I'm not sure about that.

Does anyone know of a better resource than Browning's website? The serial number is "99604 S9".

First year of Citori was 1973. So does it say Citori on it? on the barrel, where does it say it's made?

You likely have a 1962 or 1969 model Superposed...not a citori.

The 1962 12 gauge serial numbers ranged from 96501-99999 but the S9 code is interesting. In 69, they changed the S code from S7=67, S8=68 etc to S69 for 1979. But a quick search shows many people with a S9 code. Prob factory error.

Regardless- you have a cool gun. Dont sell it.

My Citori is from 1986 and says Citori, made in Japan and if memory serves special steel on the side. I'll pull the serial number when I get home as a reference.

Ok, you guys were right. It is Superposed made in Belgium in 1969. Looking at some pictures online, I think it is a Lightning model. I'll try to post some pics this weekend.

That's definitely a Superposed, not a Citori. I have a 1956 20 gauge Superposed that my dad bought new. I remember him saving for it. Fine gun - don't sell it.

Those English stock superposed guns are such
beautiful field guns. Be aware though if it is a 1969 your model then it could be a salt wood gun. The stock blanks were cured with salt and with use and temperature changes the salt leaks out and rusts up the gun. I think you are probably okay but that gun looks like it has never been out of the safe so I thought I would mention it.
