How long do you want to ignore this user?
Thought I would start a thread where we can share some good spots. Been to the TPWD lakes/ponds and have had zero luck. Know there are some retention/neighborhood ponds around town that can be pretty good too. Heard specifically of a retention pond south of Katy Mills that is pretty dang good but can't locate it on google maps. Any ideas fellas??

I really don't meant to come off as an a-hole here but you need to be around a while before that info is going to get shared.

The sites you're talking about can get a ton of pressure and get over-fished really quickly. This is a public forum and there are people who lurk or google up stuff like this and find these spots. Most of us are happy to share knowledge off-line but do so with people we've at least met and fished with an maybe I'm a dick here but you're a rookie without an Ag tag.

I'll drop a few saltwater spots on here because they're not remotely secret and you'll be surrounded by people but you'll catch fish. But these neighborhood ponds are a much touchier issue.

I will give you a tip to get on Google Earth or maps in satellite view and check out as many places as you can. Look for what appears to be cleaner water and not dyed. Every single bayou and detention/neighborhood pond in Houston that has enough water year round will hold fish and in most cases you can figure out whether or not it's worth fishing in just a few minutes because you'll see bait and predator fish. Figuring out what they'll eat is another story but you can determine really quickly if it's worth fishing.

If you didn't want to "give away your secrets", how about just Don't Post a response. That way you don't sound like an ass, and you don't waste everyone's time either. Because you do come across as a dick.

Why not just give him the advice on how to find spots? I don't see the need for the rest of the post.

Whatever you do, DON"T go to Sheldon Reservoir.

If you have a boat you could easily get to Fayette County Reservoir. There are bass in the Trinity River just up and probably down from I-10. I used to really enjoy that fishing and had some 50 fish days out there in high school. Highland Reservoir has bass. Used to wade fish there. Sheldon Reservoir but only fished it once. Houston is not a bass fishing mecca but there are opportunities there.

Welcome to the forum, Aggies are really friendly and helpful, especially in the OB.

You seem like someone who might not fish neighborhood ponds....they're a gem if you have one. For someone to give them up on a public forum would be crummy

Scale down. Smaller lures, lighter tackle. Bass are in virtually every neighborhood and golf course ponds, creeks and bayous. You just have a bit smaller fish. I've caught dozens of bass up to 4lb out of cypress creek on light and ultralight tackle.

Considering I've given up one spot in particular on here about 4 years ago and it promptly ended up trashed and overfished that's a characterization I'm willing to accept.

I don't think fellow Ags trashed the place but I know for a fact that people troll places like here 2cool, TKF, and FB to hotspot fishing holes. I'm much more circumspect about giving up spots now.

I'm happy to share my knowledge and even give specific spots off-line but a rookie with no Ag tag asking for specific spots is suspect.

Check out the ponds around Cinco Ranch and The Woodlands. They are no secret. You will catch fish. As MouthBQ said, lower your tackle size. I'm always willing to help a man catch a fish. It's an awesome hobby (or lifestyle) and I love sharing it.

We catch some decent fish in the pond in our hood. It has horrible off color water plus they add that stupid dye, but it has some fish. We have so many kids here that it gets a lot of pressure already.
