Cross-posted in Classifieds. Getting on a deer lease and hoping to find a 4 wheeler to help with some work and getting around. Looking for a 4x4 that's 350cc plus that doesn't currently need work to run fine. Hoping to spend $1.5 to 2k. Located in Houston.

Look for a Honda fourtrax or rancher from mid 90s up. You can find a decent one at the upper end of that price, but if you bump up to $3K your options will open up significantly.
For older 4Wheelers, it's Honda my miles. My FIL has a '96 Fourtrax that still runs strong.

Thanks, I'm new to 4 wheelers, so that's helpful. I've heard nothing but good things about Hondas.
Only bad knock on the Hondas in this vintage is brakes. Learn to downshift it right out of the gate.
I would also advise to stay away from the ES (electric shift) transmissions.
Saw this today and might be perfect. I'll take some cheap cigars as finders fee.

Buy any Honda Fourtrax in good condition. You won't be disappointed ... we have two that i wouldn't trade for anything. Can't tell you the amount of blood, sweat, and cactus those things have seen. Absolute workhorses

Where is your deer lease?
I love Hondas but if you're hunting the hill country with a lot of rocky areas, that solid rear axle is a *****. I wouldn't let it stop me from getting one, just something to consider.
Don't shy away from an IRS if you'll be primarily be riding over rocks.
It's on timber land in Jasper. There's a little up and down, but nothing too crazy.
Honda all the way then!
