On the way to the lake this morning. There were probably about 30, but I was taking pictures and driving, so I got what I could.

Elk hunting is so easy, not sure why so many people find it difficult... in Utah people whack them during bow season riding around just like this with a bench seat mounted in the back! EZ

Blue Mesa Reservoir. This is just west of the lake on Hwy 92. West of Gunnison.


4 salmon, 2 rainbows, one of which was pretty decent. One small laker that didn't make the picture.

I used to snag Kokanee annually on Navajo lake. Guessing this isn't snagging season, nice haul!

Head to Steamboat And fish the Yampa! The Green River is world class up by Dutch John, Ut. You can camp with kids at Stawbery and catch lots of trout from shore. Rangely isn't much Monday- Friday but the weekends are excellent!

Thanks for the recs. Definitely need kid/family friend destinations. It's enough that I'm yanking the wife away from all of her family, don't think I'll get a whole lot of solo adventures while she stays behind in Rangely.

We were trolling beaded spinners that I make and a chubby darter on the surface rod.

Haven't been to Lake City in a few years, nor did I take him as a guide, but Dan's Fly Shop in Lake City was a nice place and super helpful.

Never got the chance to fish down there, but did get to check out the Lake City Emergency room
