Stick your hand in there and pull it out?
I prefer to not stick my hand in tight quarters that is occcupied by a large snake. Besides, half of the hour or two I've been looking for him I can't see him.

Rat snake bites aren't that bad, he might not even bite you if you are gentle. If you are afraid, wear gloves.

Mothballs do nothing to deter snakes, and are extremely toxic to just about everything.

Drill a 1/4" hole through a wooden broomstick handle, and thread a loop of masons string through it with enough length to have a big loop and both ends down to the far end of the handle. Get the loop over his head and pull tight. Set him free by letting the string loose and dropping the broomstick.
Build a chicken coop nearby, buy some chicks, feed them up and once they start laying eggs don't collect them. Rat snakes love chicken eggs. You might speed it up a little bit if you left a trail of chicken eggs from the snake's location to the nest.

Now that I think about it, weed eater line would work better. Stiffer to hold a big loop.

Go to the pet store or local zoo, get a mongoose and toss him in, start rolling video then report back.
Could always push the utv into the pond. Rat snakes don't have gills.
