...I carry nothing.
And as a big body I would prefer those ounces be spent on something like chocolate.

My ideal wilderness gun would be a Glock 40 (model 40...not 40 caliber) with full power ammo. If I can't have that I'd want the G20.
I don't know either really, this just reminds me of the joke about the Alaskan gun store employee's advice.EskimoJoe said:
Looking back, im not sure how much a 44 mag would slow down a charging grizzly bear that wasn't distracted by the dog. Lucky for us, we never found out.

I was really considering getting a Glock 20. I didn't know about the Glock 40. Now the choice is much more difficult.

Ahh a fellow Keith enthusiast, fewer and fewer people now even know who Elmer Keith was.

You don't have to be faster than the bear, just faster than the buddy with 70# and a pack of nutter butters on his back.
Nowdays though Keith would be an outcast for being dangerous and stupid and going beyond published data or dancing in the gray area of the unknown concerning reloading and catastrophic failure of firearms.cledus6150 said:

Same thing for me, I have an early production 57 that my dad gave me as my first handgun. I love it and I have taken a lot of game with it. It is my handgun of choice to carry when I go into the woods, not for fear of wild game. But instead, for instances where I stumble upon some deer or hogs I like to a handgun that I have absolute confidence.
This was my first deer with it, there have been many since.
