Who all went out for the duck opener? Are the birds down yet?

I agree. We go to the OM-A&M game every year with the inlaws.

Salvaged the weekend with an afternoon hunt. Single flew in 5 minutes before sunset. Didn't get skunked

Went yesterday with my brother, nephew, and a couple good friends on a guided trip over near Winnie/Anahuac and hammered them- 6 man limit.

Don't try to hide the Spoonie! Just kidding, great looking bag.

A few mallards starting to show up here in Missouri and plenty of teal are still around.

There's drake spoonie in there too that was just short of having that really pretty plumage they get later in the season. Sadly none of the pintails had the nice sprig yet otherwise I'd be getting one mounted.

Had a couple of quick afternoon hunts this weekend on the Green River here in Wyoming. Bird numbers are pretty low at the moment. We had a fair amount in early October with the initial push, however, we've had pretty warm weather over the past few weeks and the migration has slowed. I managed a single widgeon hen last night and another one on Saturday. I should have had a second last night but didn't connect well on my follow-up shot.

We're getting a pretty good storm later on this week and it's supposed to bring a half foot of snow and temps in the low teens. Hopefully that'll push a few down and they'll start funneling to the rivers as the ponds and lakes start to freeze up. Although, I am going to miss this Indian summer we've been having lately.

Just realized that you and I hunted with the same guide over the weekend.

We are east of Ballinger and normally wait til after the rut to skyblast but I may have to talk my brother into bringing the dekes this weekend.

We hunted old Mexico. Looks like like he had you in a different blind. That was the first time I've ever done a guided duck hunt. They sure do spoil you! Makes you dread going back to hunting public marshland.

Yes it is when I first looked at it the lighter head and darker ring at about neck, now upon looking closer seem to be from sun and water. I was driving and kinda thought it might be a hybrid

Just a few birds shy of a 7 man limit here in port mansfield. Redheads, pintails, gadwall, and a few teal. Started off slow but then we got some good action between 8 and 9:30.

Gonna keep a green wing teal to get mounted. Sorry no group photo, maybe tomorrow.

Anyone hunting the front this week? Looks like the Dakotas are completely wiped with a blizzard, and will be below freezing for the extended forecast

Might be out on Sunday and it should be spectacular.

Posted this the other day in a different hunting thread but I'll post it here since this is the main duck thread. Pretty happy with this half limit on one of our farm tanks in just over an hours worth of hunting last Sunday.

Plan on getting out Saturday and Sunday mornings this upcoming weekend. Hope to see a nice mallard or two, that's next on my hit list to get to the taxidermist.
