On St Aug, Simazine or Atrazine plus a good three-way broadleaf herbicide (ie Trimec, others) will take care of all the winter annuals that are starting to take off. Plus it will give good results on any poa that you may have, given that its not resistant. Might be a little early to start thinking about pre's for crabgrass control, but that certainly depends on where you are geographically.

Check the Randy Lemmon section on the first page. He is the go to source for South East Texas.

It looks like the preemergents recommended at the links in the OP are all sprays. Are there any as effective that can be put through a spreader?

I've got a bermuda lawn in Katy.

Also, if you use dimension does that take care of both grassy and broadleaf weeds?

Can a dry pre emergent be used? Yes.

Is it desirable? No.

Thanks. I just have a pump hand-held sprayer that I carry around for post-emergent spot treatment, and treating the whole lawn with it seems like a PITA. Any recs on a different one? Lot is relatively small (~ 5000 sf of yard).

So Sperry says to get fall pre-emergents down in early September. Lemmons says to apply it in late October/early November. Which is it??? I have bermuda lawns and in the San Antonio area.

Neil covers Dallas area. Randy covers Houston. There is usually a slight difference in timing between the two.

Thoughts on timing for spring pre-emergent for Dallas this year? Are we still tracking for early March or sooner?

I'm in Denton County and interested in what folks will be using.

My front yard has a lot of bermuda that is thankfully starting to choke out some of the native pasture bunch grass. I'd like to help it along this spring by applying some kind of pre-emergent or broadleaf killer to give the bermuda less competition this spring

Which specific product do y'all use from Ace? Last year I used something from the feed store that worked ok, but am looking for an actual product name this year.

I always like Ronstar as pre-emerge for Bermuda.
Have you tried MSM to try and knock out some of the other grasses?

You're seeing weeds now in South Dallas because of the pre emergent woes of last fall.

I'm in College Station and have been following Lemmon's schedule. I've even started listening to his podcasts on the iHeartRadio app. I saw on Sperry's website that you should subtract 1 week for every 100 miles you're south of I-20 for timing applications of pre-emerg/fertilizer.

Also, parts of my backyard are super wet. The feed store recommended gypsum pellets to break down the clay. Do any of you have any commentary on this?

I've got an acre in BCS and the dominant turf is Bermuda. Should I be putting down dimension or Pendulum this coming week?

Metsulfuron-methyl. Clean pasture is one trade name. It works pretty good to wipe out a number of weeds. If msm and 2-4,d won't get it, I would just spot spray with round up. Go light on your spray and the Bermuda will cover up the bare spot in no time. Otherwise, you can buy some more expensive herbicides to knock out some hard to kill weeds.

Depends on what your application method is. Granular = dimension, spray = many better options

Question folks- I have been reading Lemmons schedule and was going to do a rapid release 15-5-10 went to tractor supply and Lowe's only thing I found at Lowe's was a slow release. It wasn't one of the brands he reccomdeds it was Sta-green. Will that work or do I need to find one of the brands he recommends like imperial? And if so where does one find that brand? It's an acre with half of it Bermuda in Leander outside of Austin. Thanks I'm advance

I would spray princep or specticle depending on how much you want to spend and how accurate you feel you can spray. Princep if you want to go cheap and specticle if you want 6 month control and are confident in your application rate.
