Do you buy your Gallery online or from a store? Do you buy the brand name Gallery or some other product that contains Isoxaben?

I think there is a granular product called "Portrait" that has it in there. if you have a typical sized lawn this is the route I would go. Put it in your flowerbeds as well.

Get it at "box" stores or nurseries.

Use this for poa annual and other grassy weeds..

Those of you with St. Augustine, be very careful with the Ortho and Scott's products you get at the big retail places... Many say they are safe for SA, but if you are unfamiliar with the type of SA you have, it could kill your grass. For example, many of these products say they are safe for SA, but they will kill the hell out of Floratam and other hybrids.

Something I found from Oklahoma State regarding active ingredients and their corresponding brand names.

Dallas with Bermuda in the front and St Augustine in the back.

Put out my 2,4D two days ago and Spectracide Atrazine in the back (both from Home Depot).

This morning did my Fertilome with Gallery (Bruce Miller Nursery $22/2000sqft)

Also put out Bonide with Dimension (Brumley Gardens $25/5000sqft)

Plan on putting out some Image for the nutsedge on Monday.

St Augustine weed prevent. Dad feels it works really well on it as a pre emergent as well. Only condition is he recommended it only in open grass, not under trees or around scrubs.

Sorry, not in the back yard. We live on a corner lot so mostly front and side Bermuda. Sorry for the confusion.

What is this nastiness that's choking out my St. Augustine in Houston? Will weed beater ultra get rid of this stuff?

I think that is Spurge and that product should control it.

Mow st. Augustine higher, the higher it is the more likely it is to choke out the Bermuda
What about using a product like this on the Bermuda that is growing between the st Augustine rectangles? Worth the effort?

Ortho Grass B A
No! It nukes all grasses. That is an excellent choice for grass growing up in flowers and shrubs.

Any ideas on products for getting the Straggler Daisy (Horse Herb) under control? Back yard is 70% heavily shaded so it may be my best option to leave it alone, but I'm not really a fan.

Man that's a bunch of stuff to apply. Not trying to be critical. But if it works, it works.

I've had great results with Lesco + Dimension applied at 5# per 1,000 sq/ft. Done 3-4 times a year. Sept 1, Dec1, March 1 and June 1. Usually apply Lesco Pre M on my June application since after 3 applications of Dimension I'm getting to the max yearly rate.

SiteOne in Keller has the Dimension (for any fellow DFW folks)

Purchased our home lastt fall and home owners had no irrigation and a mess of weeds. Missed the spring pre emergent and have been fighting it since.

DFW area. For years I've used Lesco granular pre-m with good results when I remember to put it out. Always put Fall application out in October based on common advice. Interesting to read idea of putting Fall pre-m out in August. Now I've got a complication in that I've just re-soded my back yard with Palmetto SA (still have some more to put out over next few days. Should I not put out pre-m on the new sod? I'm also not familiar with the types mentioned here- root cutter?

Used the ortho nuts edge 1.5 weeks ago.... I used too much on the front section of my yard, other part of yard is good.

What can I do? Water? Fertilize?

Spray it with a liquid fertilizer. Use a 1/2 rate and do not water in.

Sounds like Nutsedge

Lowe's sells a basic "Nutsedge Killer" (says that on the bottle and it's a hose-attach sprayer) and it works well.

Bumpity bump bump

Starting to see some green out there. I hope we get a few more hard freezes but if not, might start thinking about your spring pre-emergent and fertilizer needs. February is not to far off for you folks down South.
