Below are pictures of a hoof my neighbor showed me of a deer he shot off his MLD place. Would this regrow into a normal hoof or would it always be messed up? Also, what would cause this?

that appears to be a boot shank [a la roadhouse]. is that a mexican deer?
It depends on the extent of the damage, if the coronary band (basically the cuticle) is damaged, the hoof will not regrow normally. If it is just the hoof wall, then it will regrow.
