HP 8610 printer error

"missing or failed printhead"

I've pulled out all the ink cartridges and put them back in. Didn't work.
I put in a new black ink cartridge. Didn't work.
Did a hard reset. Didn't work.
Checked and it has the latest updates so that didn't work.
I guess I need to try and change out the other 3 ink cartridges?
Or anyone know how to troubleshoot this?

Are you using HP cartridges? My printer started using some generic ones but quit and I've found that only HP ones will work all the time.

After looking at the link and from what you've already done, it sound like something on the carriage might've come loose.

Can't find anything obvious that is loose. I've tried all of the support suggestions. Nothing.
Also, yes, they are HP cartridges.

It doesn't help fix anything but isn't an 8610 getting to be a pretty old printer?
