We are setting up events to live stream and record with an iPad Pro. IPad on tripod will be an estimated 6-10 ft from the person speaking. Which microphone would work best to hook up to the iPad. Not really worried about the cost. Thanks!

Has anyone used the Shure MV88 condenser mic on iPhone or iPad? Seems like exactly what I need but all stores are sold out. Any other suggestions?

Don't know but Shure seems to be top of the line as far as mics go.

Depends on what you are trying to capture. If you are trying to capture the voice of one person speaking you really want a dynamic mic close to the person.

Condenser mics are great if you are trying to capture sound from a group of people or sounds from the entire room. But they will pick up everything... air conditioner, passing cars, barking dogs.

In any case, getting the mic closer to the source is better... less echo and other distracting sounds that you may not want to pick up.

Shure makes great products.

Another option is Rode.

If it matters to you, all Rode mics are manufactured in Australia rather than China.

If it was me - I would get a Rode Condenser mic and get a second tripod/boom to get the mic as close to the sound source and run the USB back to the Ipad. Don't plug in straight to Ipad.

Thank you for those recommendations. How do you think a Lavalier Mic would do that plugs directly into the lighting port or headphone jack on the iPad? It would need to be pretty long or would need some kind of extension cable.

A lav mic would work well. Wired mics are cheap and typically have long cords.

Wireless sets are available, but more expensive.

I've used both of these wireless sets and was happy with the results.

This Saramonic might be particularly useful as the reciever plugs directly into the lightning port.
