Doesn't look too bad, but why is the western release getting a midi soundtrack? I may get this on Steam to mod it out rather than on PS4.

With how lackluster 9 was, and 10 being an MMO that never made it to the west, I'm looking forward to 11.

The music issue doesn't bother me; I think orchestrated soundtracks are overrated anyway. What I am disappointed about is that the Switch version isn't coming out at at the same time as the others.

I have a vita and would prefer to have it on that platform, but I guess I'll deal.

Preordered a few months ago... can't wait for next week. Dragon Warrior was my first RPG back in the day... still remember my first time walking in circles around tantegel castle fighting my first slimes.

I remember my first time venturing into Hauksness and wondering where all the townsfolk was, right up until I got owned by the first random encounter in there.

Just beat dragon Quest 4 yesterday and started the brief post-game content. Looking forward to getting to newer stuff, I'm sure it's worlds apart from what I'm playing these days.

You likely played Dragon Warrior first because it was released about a year before Final Fantasy in North America. If you bought the Nintendo Power with the strategy guide, you were definitely playing it before Final Fantasy hit. I was obsessed with Dragon Warrior, never did finish FF1, but played it quite a bit. The only one I ever really liked, strangely, was FF6.

Sad seeing it preloaded on my PS4 but not able to play!

Pretty fun so far. I'm torn on the art style though because the scenery looks great, but the characters look like fancy Miis from Nintendo. Thought I was going to hate the midi soundtrack, but turning it down to 50% volume did the trick for me. Still hoping orchestral version is available later. Reminds me of old school RPGs like the original dragon warrior games

I think the game looks great. I'm about 10ish hours in, love it so far. Been so long since we've had a proper DQ game!

Was playing last night and all of a sudden it was 3:15 in the morning...

Had to beat the stupid quest where you needed to have 3 characters with pep.

Just got to the ruins of Dundrasil. This place definitely reminds me of Hauksness from DQ1. Destroyed city, sad music, and monsters.

Having a blast on this one. Reminds me of the turn based RPGs of old.

I'm getting closer and closer to the end. It's very true to its lineage... love it.

Looking forward to finishing so I can sleep again... been staying up way too late every night playing.

Just got the plat trophy. I play dragon quest games really slow lol almost 130 hours at my last auto save before last battle.

I'm around 67 hours and I probably have a ways to go. I just got to the 2nd casino.

Playing through this game over the past week or so. Really enjoying it.

Though playing with the "Stronger Monsters" modifier and the sand scorpion boss is quite the wall. Had him down to red on my last attempt before he decided to slap me around.

I didn't play with any of the draconian options on. If I play again at some point will probably do harder monsters... but knew I'd spend enough time on it to annoy my wife on normal mode so didn't want to press it and take longer and risk getting story spoiled!

Just finished the main story and didn't realize that I still have a 3rd to half of a game to go.

Do yourself a favor and google metal slime farming trick.

I loved the first Dragon Warrior game on NES. I could never get into the others.
