Has anyone used MINT Sim or Red Pocket Mobile?

MINT has a plan that is $15 a month for unlimited talk/text and 2GB of data. It's a prepaid plan, and you pay for 3, 6 or 12 months at a time. Right now, they have buy 3 months ($45), get 3 months for free. That's cheap as heck.

that mintsim company has some very spotty reviews out there. Coverage is OK in Texas but nonexistant in lots of northern states. It looks like they can only piggyback off of some of T-Mobiles towers but not all of them. If its just an in town runaround phone, it should work ok, They are BYOD, so you will need to purchase him a GSM phone to go with the plan when you start it up.

It's not MINT, however I have a friend who is using Total Wireless and is extremely satisfied. All in town coverage. 5GB of Data plus unlimited calls and text for $35/mo. Seems like a pretty good deal. They use the Verizon network, so you would need a CDMA phone.
