Looking for a motion sensor to activate a wall switch but can't use a standard motion wall switch as the switch and motion will be in different rooms.

I have used Wemo in the past but has some issues with connectivity and they seem dated. Is there a newer alternative?

Thanks!

I don't know much about this stuff, but could you get a wifi motion detector to put in the room you want, a wifi enabled switch in the other room and then use ITTT to get to effect you desire?

Some smart home options are the Philips Hue motion sensor to trigger light(s), or the Samsung Smartthings motion sensor to trigger just about anything. Each requires its respective hub connected to your home network to operate.

Like Greasen mentioned a Samsung SmartThings hub will do what you want. I've found the Lowes Iris motion sensor to be more reliable than the ST one. It's also smaller. I'd use Cree bulbs instead of HUE primarily due to cost. I have ~20 Cree smart bulbs in my house and have had zero issues with them. If you're trying to control a fluorescent light, I'd get a zigbee smart in wall light switch - lots of companies make these. This is also the better option if other people using the light are non-technical.

Total cost would be ~$150 plus an electrician if you can't install a light switch
