Help me out Ags. I am interested in getting a drone to film the high school team I coach for during practice. It needs to obviously have a camera on it that films in HD and be able to stay aloft for a couple hours at a time. I would have to work on a budget so cost is a concern. What can yall suggest in the 1k ballpark that would serve our needs? Thanks!!

No matter what you choose, the best you're going to do on flight time is about 20-25 minutes.

Are they really that short on flying time? I had no idea...

it takes a bit of battery power to keep the props spinning and the drone aloft.

Not to mention colder temperatures significantly decrease battery/flight time.

If you get one, make sure to buy 2 spare batteries.

Build your own. You can do it.

Extra batteries definitely make it doable. Some of the drones I see come with three or four batteries. That looks like a decent option. Just depends on other factors now like video quality etc.
