If you use Google voice for SMS the app will still support it

Thank goodness, splitting Google voice SMS and Hangouts sux. I've tried it and it's a mess.

that sucks.

Not long ago they were trying to push SMS from the GV app to Hangouts.

I like having my SMS pop-up in gmail. It made responding much easier than finger typing on the phone.

Are you guys on iphongs? I noticed that Google just recently fixed the GV app so that it's possible to text new contacts, finally, after years of not being able to text new contacts via Hangouts or the GV app.

i use android. Just want 1 app to manage all my "texts."

I have google voice so I will still receive SMS on Hangouts (and my computer), but it's really annoying that I have to open up the Messages app to see MMS.

MMS works on Hangouts as long as you're using Google Voice. Are you having to open Messages to see non GV mms?

I still haven't received any notice it's going away. Guess I'll figure out over the next few days... I have the Gv app installed so I'm guessing it'll be pretty obvious.

I did receive SMS today via hangouts.
